Chapter 117: Life Qi
That night Shen and the others bade farewell to Yu He. Her sudden departure surprised many, and she even left all the duties of Yu He Inn to her grandpa Yu Donghao. Her steps were decisive. Even her plans seemed she already prepared for a long time. The inner workers didn’t feel surprised.
But Yu Donghao himself felt bizarre. He knew Yu He’s plan to enter the Hundred Flowers Valley but hadn’t thought she would leave so abruptly. Knowing how much she loved Shen, he tried to discourage the idea on multiple occasions, however, Yu He remained headstrong without taking his advice. In the end, he could only resign seeing the once lovely granddaughter growing up to be a proper woman. But knowing that she dedicated herself to the small monster, he felt rather relieved.
Before the departure of Yu He, Shen passed her the remaining four Defense-Enhancing Fruits. He already gave her others and the One Nurturing Will technique. He looked forward to the time they met again and see how her One Nurturing Will changed her Body of a Hundred Flowers.
While Shen had to let go of Yu He abruptly and resolutely, he didn’t feel good about any of it. Although he couldn’t eat her, he wasn’t sad about it. No matter what her heart belonged to him and only him. What truly made him upset was by the fact he couldn’t stop her from going to Hundred Flowers Valley.
Yes, he was happy for her as she found something she wished to do. But also upset because she went to Hundred Flowers Valley of all things. If it was without his intervention, after Qing Shui distanced himself from her, she would follow the granny of the Hundred Flowers Valley and train under her so she can return to him once again and not feel ignored and neglected.
Her purpose this time had definitely differed, however, she chose the same path to achieve her purpose. The more he thought about it, the more exasperated he became. Even cultivating became harder as he failed to meditate and clear his mind.
Left with no other options, he cultivated his body using the waterfall. The impact produced by the waterfall had massive benefits in his body and the process didn’t have stringent requirements such as clear mind and soul.
He jumped on a pond in the outside world before hopping in the mortal world. He repeated the process of jumping inside the waterfall and just as his body couldn’t bear the heated burden, he jumped out and let his body cool in the pond. From an outsider’s view, it was a bizarre view. Without any hint of Qi, the water suddenly boiled and a huge amount of water evaporated into the sky.
He repeated the task multiple times and whenever he remembered about Yu He, he felt too irritated, “Shit, next time I just won’t let anyone go if I don’t wanna! They just have to shut up and listen to their husband!”
He knew very clearly, he couldn’t do that. No, he could, but then he would’ve hated himself even more. He clearly knew letting Yu He go was the best decision for both him and her. Even then, an irritated feeling just scratched his heart which further caused him to think of himself so petty.
He got a strong desire to hug Yu He and take large breath on her flowery fragrance. Maybe he should embrace Mingyue Gelou, at least that might cool his head for good. He had promised to spend some time with her but it kept getting delayed from various things. Thinking up to this point made him feel disgusted to himself.
“Embracing Mingyue Gelou while thinking of Yu He?”
Even the thought caused him to frown. He would never do such a cruel thing to the devoted Gelou, or any woman else for the matter. Countless useless and complicated thoughts poured inside his brain and the more he thought, the more chaotic and restless he became.
Once again, he dived inside the waterfall in an impatient manner.
Although he could be under the waterfall only for a small time, the immense pressure cleared his thought by a lot. However, he really looked down upon it too much.
The flow of the waterfall directly impacted his body's already exhausted body. Forcing him on the stone slab below the waterfall. The impact momentarily blanked him out and by the second he expressed his intent to leave the Mortal Realm, countless small-big blood vessels burst out, the joint of his left leg crackled as Shen’s body was thrown deep inside the pond.
The small pond boiled as white and red vapor hovered around.
Shen gasped for breath. His current condition could be as miserable as it could be described. He wanted to leave the pond, at the same time, his scorching body temperature burned too fiercely for him to leave.
Gritting his teeth, he formed three needles with Absolute Qi. The three needles pierced his back in a triangular form and his blood loss instantly stagnated. But this only caused the fierce clash on his body to become stronger. The blood clashed against his bones and muscles, even his face became blood red. If looked carefully one would find tiny fine cracks on his red face.
He took out a pill bottle. And as soon as he opened the cork he grimaced in pain. His cultivated Blood Qi reached an extreme height and emerged from every part of his body. The Blood Qi in his body was too vigorous and rebelled against his body.
His body swelled as blood dripped from the corner of his lips and nose. Finally, his joints made creaking sound and the redness on his skin reduced.
Shen clearly knew what had happened but he didn’t have the spare rooms to celebrate. His Blood Qi went through a huge remolding and became “Life Qi” which he desired for a long time. However, if he relaxed now, the excess blood force would go out of control and might even flow backward.
Under his skillful guidance, his broken blood vessels recovered at an astonishing speed. Taking a deep breath he opened his eyes, a layer of red mist covered his vision.
He could feel the blood present in the mist. He didn’t bother with the miserable pond and analyzed his injured left leg. It took a rather... interesting shape.
He gave a silent prayer to self and yanked his leg.
With a “Clack” sound his leg returned to his former position. Of course, the pain caused him to swing a fist on the pond, clearing another chunk of the pond water. Now, only one-fifth of the water remained.
He let go of the breath held in for a long time. The three needles on his back disappeared.
As if a senile old man, he looked tired and beaten. He muttered carelessly, “Yup, having death near your eyes is the best method to clear your head... but, SHIT, it was too dangerous!”
Even though he looked tired he felt refreshed. A bit aloof or maybe arrogant, he turned to the south, “Well, now you can come out.”
And an unknown wet-clothed man revealed himself from the trees.
