Ch: 86 [Brian and Professor]

[Back to Professor X] [Brian's First person POV]

Thanks to the System's protection, the Professor couldn't enter my mind. Now, I can be at ease.

"So, Professor," I began, explaining the newfound facet of my abilities, "I have the power to manipulate gravity, which I've had for a while. But during that beach incident, I discovered an additional ability. I can absorb the powers of individuals I've come into physical contact with, without affecting them. I've yet to test if this absorption is exclusive to cosmic powers or extends to other types."

"Interesting," Professor X smiled, "I have a student, Rogue, who has the exact same ability as you and some more, but sadly, she can't control her mutation..."

Ah! Rogue...

"Can't control her power?" I asked.

"Yes," He replied, "Apparently, she can absorb the life force, powers, energies, memories, knowledge, talents, personality, and physical abilities, whether superhuman or not, of another human being or members of some sentient alien races through physical contact of her skin with the skin of the other person. As a result, none can withstand her touch." He explained.

"Let me guess," I continued, "You were planning on using her to fight the Surfer, huh?"

"Yes. That way we would know what he is after and how far his powers go," the Professor replied with a calm expression.

"That's a logical plan, given the circumstances," I replied after thinking for a bit, "But will she be able to endure the Surfer's power when she has no control over her power?"

"Under normal circumstances, no," Professor X conceded. "Rogue's lack of control over her abilities makes her a risk to herself and others. But with your unique power, Brian, we might have a solution."

He leaned forward, his gaze intense. "If you can absorb powers without harming the source, we could use you as a conduit. Only if you are willing to help..."

Before I could reply, a red sign started blinking on the transparent screen on the table before the Professor. He pressed a button on the screen, accepting the incoming call from Tony Stark. The holographic image of Tony appeared before us, his face a mixture of concern and urgency.

"Professor X, I've just had a face-to-face encounter with the Silver Surfer," Tony began, wasting no time. "He revealed his true purpose, and it's worse than we thought."

The Professor's expression remained calm, but I could sense the gravity of the situation in the room. "Go on, Tony. Tell us what you've learned."

Tony relayed the Silver Surfer's revelation about his master, Galactus, the devourer of worlds. He described the cosmic entity's insatiable hunger for planetary energies and how Galactus had set his sights on Earth. The holographic images provided a visual backdrop to Tony's words, showing the captured videos of destruction and chaos left in the wake of Galactus's cosmic appetite.

The Professor listened attentively, his brow furrowing with each new detail. "This is indeed a dire situation," he acknowledged. "Thank you for sharing this information, Tony. We have our own developments here that may provide a potential solution."

Tony's holographic image nodded. "I figured you might. We need all the help we can get, Professor because this thing... It's way beyond anything we have ever faced."

"Arrange a meeting. Call all the members of the Illuminati. Put the alert on Code Omega. Send the new Avengers to our neighboring galaxies, warn our allies about this threat, and start Project QR. We will hide Earth inside the quantum realm within 24 hours," the Professor ordered as the leader of the Illuminati.

Tony's holographic image looked grim, clearly grappling with the weight of the situation. "I understand. But we have to lure the Silver Surfer away from Earth and stabilize Earth's core for it to work. It will take months if not days for it to stabilize."

"The Ancient One has returned from her journey and is now working with Dr. Strange to mend the core," the Professor replied.

"The Time Stone?!" Tony asked.

"Yes. It's time to use everything we have to face the oncoming threat," He replied.

"Very well," Tony said. "I will meet you in the meeting room."

The call was disconnected.

The Professor looked at me, "Can you do it if you have access to more Cosmic power?"

"Only if you promise not to kill me or imprison me after I take care of this threat," I said as I leaned forward, "I know how the Illuminati operates, Professor. You will probably give me a death sentence after I save this world by calling me dangerous. Isn't that right, Professor?"

I continued after a pause, "Why do you think I openly came to lend a hand?"

"Because you somehow know more about the enemy we are facing and you know with the recent incidents, Illuminati can not withstand another cosmic-level threat. Not without Thor. Not after the scars Kang has left on us," He said with a grim expression. "So, what is it that you want from us, in exchange for your help?"

Fuck! I knew. Did Kang killed Thor?

"What happened to Thor?" I inquired. I was hoping to absorb his power.

"Injured. He needs time to recover," He replied.

"And time is what we don't have," I said with a worried expression.

"That's where you come in. So, tell me," He looked into my eyes, "What do you want from us?"

"All I want is to form a team of my own, completely separate from Illuminati's control. You will have no control over us, nor will you interfere with our work. You guys take care of otherworldly threats and I will keep the civilians safe from small timers. And I might lend you a helping hand occasionally," I replied.

He looked at me for a few minutes. I am 100% sure he is trying to get into my mind, but sadly, that won't work. After I absorb different abilities, if they want to get rid of me, I will get rid of them instead and run things my way.

"Very well, Brian," he said, his tone measured. "Your offer is acceptable. We'll grant you the autonomy you seek for your team, separate from Illuminati operations. As long as your actions align with the greater good and the protection of Earth, you'll have our support."

I extended my hand to shake on the agreement. "It's a deal, Professor."

He accepted my handshake, sealing our arrangement. "Now, let's focus on the immediate threat. We need to coordinate our efforts to confront Galactus. With your unique abilities, you could be the key to stopping him."

"Then bring me individuals with powers. It will allow me to explore the limits of my abilities further," I replied.

[2 hours later] [Training field]

"So, you're planning to make a team of your own, huh?" Gwen said with a curious smile as we stood on the training field. Peggy was beside her, and both of them were watching me intently.

I nodded, "Yes, I think it's time. With the power I can potentially harness and the abilities I can absorb, it would be a waste not to put them to good use. Besides, Earth needs more protection, especially from threats like Galactus."

"You know... Since I am retiring from Illuminati," Peggy walked over to me and put her arms around my neck, "I was thinking, maybe..."

Gwen's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she leaned in, clearly interested in Peggy's suggestion.

I looked between them, intrigued by the direction this conversation was taking. "Maybe... what?"

Peggy smiled, her expression mischievous. "Maybe I could join your team, Brian. After all, I've had my fair share of adventures, and I wouldn't mind a bit more excitement in my life."

"Hey," Gwen dashed behind me and hugged me tightly from behind, "Don't forget about me." She whispered in my ears in a seductive tone. Her voice, sultry and teasing, filled my ear as she whispered, "You know, Brian, I have some pretty amazing powers myself. Perhaps I could be of assistance on your team. You know how flexible I can be..."

I couldn't help but chuckle at the playful competition unfolding between Gwen and Peggy for a spot on my team. "Well, it seems like I'm in high demand. But, if you want to join my team, I will test you..."

"Oh, Brian, you can taste me anytime you want," Peggy whispered. Her lips are so close to mine. I can feel her breath on my lips.

"You old pervert," Gwen scoffed, "He is talking about test, not taste. Do you always think of sex?"

"You shut up," Peggy grumbled, "You had your fun at the farmhouse. So, don't butt in."

"But you got to look after him after he was injured. Don't tell me you didn't take advantage and rode him like a stallion," Gwen's reply was lightning fast.

Ah! Here comes the Professor with Captain Marvel.

"Ahem!" I cleared my throat and forcefully closed their mouths with my hands. "Stop fighting. Stop embarrassing me."
