Ch: 8 [An evening with Anna]

[3 days later]

After a long day at work, I was eager to dive into my culinary creativity and work on some new dishes for my upcoming restaurant. I had been planning and preparing for the grand opening, which was now less than two months away. It was an exciting but challenging endeavor, and I wanted to ensure that every dish I served would be a delight for the taste buds.

I reached for my phone, intending to call up my friend Johnny, who had always been my go-to taste tester. However, I remembered that he was out of state for some official work. Disappointed but undeterred, I thought of Gwen and quickly dialed her number.

To my dismay, Gwen was also occupied with a visit to the hospital to see someone. She explained that it was important, and I understood. Sometimes life throws unexpected curveballs, and we have to be there for the people we care about. With my initial options exhausted, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I rolled up my sleeves, put on my apron, and got to work in the kitchen. The restaurant workers were still there, wrapping up their tasks for the day. They looked at me with curiosity as I laid out the ingredients and started concocting various flavors and textures.

"Boss, new dishes?" Anna, my receptionist asked.

"Yup, got some ideas in my head, just laying them out," I replied while mixing the egg.

Anna Reynolds, my receptionist, was a vivacious and charming woman. At 37 years old, she had a youthful energy that seemed to defy time, and her vibrant personality made her a joy to be around. She had long, chestnut brown hair that fell in loose waves, framing her radiant smile. Her sparkling blue eyes seemed to hold a mischievous glint, always ready with a playful remark or a suggestive comment.

Anna had a knack for fashion, and her sense of style reflected her confident and outgoing nature. Today, she wore a fitted black dress that accentuated her curves and ended just above the knee. The dress had a plunging neckline that hinted at her adventurous spirit, and she paired it with black heels that added a touch of elegance to her overall look.

As I worked on the new dishes, Anna couldn't resist the opportunity to engage in some friendly banter.

"Boss, are you trying to seduce us with your culinary skills?" she teased, leaning against the kitchen counter with a flirtatious smile. "Humm~ You do know how handsome and sexy you look in your attire?"

I chuckled at Anna's playful comment, feeling a warmth spread through me. "Oh, you think so, do you? Well, I guess I have to make sure the dishes live up to the expectations then."

Anna smirked, her eyes sparkling mischievously. "I have no doubt that your dishes will be as irresistible as you are, boss."

I shook my head, pretending to be modest. "Flattery will get you everywhere, Anna. But I hope my cooking skills are the real deal."

She laughed, her melodious laughter filling the kitchen. "I have faith in you, boss. Besides, who can resist the charm of a talented chef?"

As I continued working on the dishes, Anna moved closer, leaning in to get a better view. Her presence brought a sense of energy and excitement to the kitchen, and I found myself enjoying her company more and more.

"So, where is your guinea pig, Johnny? I don't see the human torch anywhere?" She inquired after looking around the empty restaurant.

I sighed, remembering that Johnny was unavailable. "Johnny's out of town for work. I was actually going to ask Gwen, but she's tied up with a visit to the hospital."

Anna's expression softened, and she nodded understandingly. "I hope everything is okay with Gwen and the person she's visiting. Sometimes life takes unexpected turns, and we have to be there for our loved ones."

"Yeah, you're right," I replied, appreciating Anna's empathy. "But I guess I'll have to rely on you today. So, Anna, are you free right now?"

As I asked her if she was free, her mischievous smile grew wider, and she leaned in even closer. She placed a hand on my arm, her touch sending a jolt of electricity through me.

"Oh, boss, I'm always free for you," she said in a low, seductive voice, her eyes locking with mine. "And I would love to be your taste tester tonight."

I felt a mixture of surprise and anticipation at Anna's forwardness. I had always found her attractive, but I had never considered the possibility of pursuing anything beyond a professional relationship. However, in that moment, a spark ignited between us, and I found myself curious about where it could lead.

A playful grin formed on my lips as I looked into Anna's eyes. "Wanna lend me a hand?"

"You mean like a couple cooking?" She stood up from the chair with a warm smile. Damn! She is beautiful.

I chuckled, enjoying the playful banter between us. "Well, only if you are comfortable with it."

Anna smirked, her gaze filled with mischief. "I'm more than comfortable, boss. I can handle the heat in the kitchen."

She puts her bag on the chair and took out an apron from the cupboard.

As Anna slipped on the apron, she turned to me with a smirk. "So, boss, what's on the menu for tonight? Any special requests?"

I pretended to ponder for a moment, tapping my chin. "Well, Anna, how about we create an out-of-this-world dish? Something truly extraordinary."

Her eyes lit up with excitement. "I love the sound of that! Are we talking about a dish that's literally from another planet?"

I chuckled, playing along. "Well, not exactly from another planet, but something that'll transport your taste buds to a whole new dimension. We are going to use ingredients from other planets and fuse them to create a couple of brand new dishes."

As we worked together in the kitchen, the playful banter between Anna and me continued. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and a sense of camaraderie, making the entire experience enjoyable and light-hearted.

"You know, boss, I think you missed your true calling," Anna teased, flipping a pan of sautéed vegetables expertly. "You could have been an intergalactic chef, creating delicacies from all corners of the universe. But here you are still on Earth."

I chuckled, stirring a colorful concoction of alien spices in a bowl. "Well, it's never too late to explore new career paths, right? Maybe I should add 'Intergalactic Chef' to my resume."

Anna grinned, leaning in closer. "I'll be your loyal sous chef in that case, boss. Together, we'll conquer the culinary galaxy."

I couldn't help but be drawn to Anna's enthusiasm and charm. Her confidence and playful spirit were infectious, and I found myself smiling genuinely.

"Deal!" I said, raising an imaginary chef's hat in her direction. "To the culinary galaxy!"

We continued to work side by side, tossing ingredients into pans, mixing alien spices, and creating a symphony of flavors that seemed otherworldly. As we cooked, Anna's hand occasionally brushed against mine, sending a tingling sensation through my skin.

"So, boss," Anna said with a sly grin, "besides being a talented chef, do you have any other hidden talents?"

I raised an eyebrow, pretending to ponder the question. "Hmm, well, I am quite skilled at playing guitar and violin. What about you? What do you do in your free time? Got any hobbies or anything like that?"

Anna playfully flipped a spatula in the air before catching it effortlessly, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Well, boss, besides being a receptionist extraordinaire, I have a hidden talent of my own."

"Oh, do tell," Brian said, a hint of curiosity in his voice as he stirred a bubbling sauce on the stovetop.

Anna leaned closer, her voice dropping to a seductive whisper. "I'm an expert mixologist and poll dancer."

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Anna's revelation. "An expert mixologist and pole dancer, huh? That's quite the combination. I must say, I'm impressed."

Anna grinned mischievously, a playful twinkle in her eyes. "Oh, I can whip up some killer cocktails, boss. And as for pole dancing, well, I had to do it to earn my college fees during my college days and I am not ashamed of it."

"Well, truth be told, there was a time when I too struggled to meet my daily ends. And I had this great body, so I became a male escort for a year or two," I replied, remembering my life before being reborn here.

As I revealed my past as a male escort, Anna's eyes widened in surprise. She looked at me, taking in my words, and then burst into laughter.

"Boss, you never cease to amaze me!" she exclaimed between laughs. "A talented chef by day and a male escort by night. That's quite the combination."

I couldn't help but laugh along with her, the tension of the day melting away in the lighthearted moment. It felt good to share a part of my past with Anna, and her acceptance and sense of humor made me feel at ease.

"I guess we both have our hidden stories, don't we?" I said, smiling at Anna.
