Chapter 91
The rest of today's auction went well enough with a couple dozen items being sold that although interesting, weren't on the level of potentially having my own forest of golden apple trees. And with those cuttings being one of the last items of the auction that meant they were considered the most valuable so I couldn't waste my money on curios or other stuff that wouldn't be of much use to my realm.
"Now for the last three items of this year's auction and the highlight of this auction itself! First, we have this wonder!" Avari the auctioneer said loudly as she unveiled a large egg that was as tall as a person and as wide as a small Pruis or something. "This wonderful egg is a true dragon's egg... Liberated from his father the Dragon King of the East Aoguang, on Earth when the Monkey King came to harass his old friend. Our friends were able to spirit off with this item and Lord Glory himself cleared the dragon egg of any tracking spells so should the buyer be smart, they can hide their purchase for a long while allowing the dragon within to bond with them!" She said excitedly.
"A true dragon! Jake are you going to buy it!?" Illya asked me excitedly and I shivered in disgust as I went as far as making an X with my arms across my chest making Illya's head tilt to the side in confusion.
As much as Glory said he cleared any form of tracking of the dragon I didn't give a damn. Messing with the Chinese pantheon of gods would lead to no good especially if Son Wukong decided he was partly at fault for his friend's son being stolen and decided to upturn the universe in search of the damned thing.
I was strong but fighting six hundred thousand gods and lifting the universe in my palms, strong I most certainly was not... Tussling with a multiverse entity was something I had no interest in.
In lieu of answering Illya especially I spoke aloud so other people could hear me. "As Avari just said, this is the child of Aoguang who old friend of the Sage, who is equal to Heaven... Doesnt matter how you hide the egg, when that monkey decides to backflip through the realms in search of a child that was taken while he was messing around with his friend, I will bet whatever magics you use to hide it will be seen under the Monkey Kings, divine eyes." I finished.
Avari to my speech only nodded shamelessly. "Oh, Jake you are most certainly correct but some of the brave men and women could also use the child as a bargaining chip to earn favor with said gods by returning him!" She said opening a whole new avenue to what people could do with the dragon egg in question.
I just rolled my eyes as I knew dammed well that whoever took the egg back to Aoguang or Wukong would get their head splattered across a mountainside to send a message that messing with, so and so would not be tolerated and such.
"Troublesome," I said as I just leaned back in my couch with a groan as I waited for the Golden Apple tree cuttings that were coming up next.
The bidding for the dragon egg even with my warning went to great heights far higher than the wealth I was willing to spend here making me frown as this dragon egg was supposed to be the lesser of the last three great items in question. For all that I looted a dragon's hoard these people in this auction especially the VIP's had wealth accumulated for millennia in comparison to me who had only been here in this very universe for less than a single year.
"And sold to VIP twelve for the wonderful bidding of a true saintess, three hundred devout nuns, the crucifix that Jesus was impaled upon, and finally the extracted grace of an angel!" Avari said gleefully and I heard screams coming from that VIP's room as the powerful demon within created a rift to hell and sent the prizes within to the teleporting square.
"Jake... You won't sell us right." Illya whispered shivering as the sheer malevolence wafting off the demon that made her go pale and start hyperventilating at the stress the pure evil put upon her very soul.
Seeing what I considered to be mine so frightened and honestly in distress, I snorted and my spiritual pressure and the sheer hunger within my spiritual might drowned the demon's demonic energy that he flooded the auction house with purposefully to showcase both his strength and wealth with his purchase of the dragon egg.
"Retract your foul stench mongrel of Hell lest I devour you for the insult," I spoke softly but the whole auction felt the weight of my world-backed power pressing the demon's energy back into its booth before I relaxed and pulled back looking to Avari who smiled.
"Oh, dammit Jake! Lord Glory was just about to kill him as well!" Avari cursed and even childishly stomped her foot at seeing the demon survive. But with her being a succubus even her so-called childish actions were seductive as her large curves bounced optimally to attract people's views.
I merely smiled as I looked between Avari and the demon in question's booth even though I couldn't see within it. "Wukong once flipped over Heaven and Earth in his quests and vendettas... Without Lucifer in Hell, I wonder who or what can stop him from tearing apart Hell... Huh, a pawn of Trigon?" I said grinning as I could feel the demonic energy from the demon was damn near a match for Raven's so either it was a lesser piece of Trigon's will or an apostle. with his power.
The auction house broke into whispers as even Avari paled being a demon, she knew that Trigon was bad news and could give Wukong a decent fight but would eventually lose without a doubt. "Jake Barriss... The consort of my dear Raven. I have been looking for you to settle accounts for stealing my most prized child and killing one of my sons." Trigon's voice boomed and Lord Glory himself stalked out of the back of the auction with his eyes glowing with a golden light.
"Enough!" Glory roared and I cursed as I felt his overwhelming eldritch energy fill the air. "You two can settle accounts after the auction. Otherwise, you will be banished if I cannot deal with you myself!" He said strongly with Trigon snorting his black and red energy wafting out of his booth before he retracted his power and with an audible crunching noise began eating a screaming person. Avari frowning at the sight snapped her fingers drawing a drape in front of the window cutting off the sounds.
Thus, a couple-minute break took place as the other VIP's discussed what happened with even a couple of magical messages being sent to me asking if I wanted to alliance against Trigon to lure him into a trap and such to steal the egg or any other things.
"Now for the second highlight of the night. We have living cuttings from the Greek Pantheon's Golden Apple Trees of myth! If you eat one ripe golden apple you will receive a thousand years of lifespan with further apples granting one less year of life span each apple!" She explained all but screaming as everyone cheered for the second most valuable item in the auction tonight.
"Wish the damned catalog told me what the most valuable item was." I cursed as the bidding began but I realized if I spoke the bidding Trigon was likely to be petty and drive up the price as much as he could to spite me so I took out the magical tool to anonymously send what I decided would be my absolute limit of stuff I could pay.
