Chapter 41
"I am not even going to get into the sheer stupidity of flying into an unknown portal Galatea, but Jake... I understand you must have been angered that Encantadora got away but throwing a tantrum and flying off into Hell of all places must not be done again. What if in your rage your violent portal opening left a scar upon reality and left a permanent portal to Hell?" Diana questioned and I had no way of refuting her as saying. 'Nuh-uh I know my powers and that wouldn't happen.' Would do nothing to assuage her concerns.
"Yes. I understand." I said nodding in understanding owning up to my mistake and with that Wonder Woman whirled back onto Galatea and began verbally hammering her, for the stupid act of going through my portal without knowing if it was even safe for her to be within.
Finally, after Wonder Woman was done scolding us in the safety of her people's embassy we sat in an awkward silence before it was broken as Galatea coughed. "Jake uh... Can I get my throne so I can read while I am grounded?" Wordlessly I complied and with a flex of my reality marble, I deposited her overly ornate throne of obsidian and gold onto the ground beside me.
Even as Galatea moved her own seat away so she could sit in her new throne beside me I could only watch Diana literally facepalm at the sight of the throne.
"You guys... You two literally stole Vlad the Impaler's throne in which he was cursed with his vampirism after feasting on the remains of his enemies." Wonder Woman said showing off her expertise as a historian when she wasn't being a diplomat or punching some poor bastard through a building.
"How can you tell?" I asked looking over the throne and then Wonder Woman went into great detail about the small dragons of gold engraved into the headpiece of the throne as well as the skulls being of notable descendants of the Tepes line after Vlad had his sibling and his family killed for betraying his homeland and not only did the constant cruelty ascend him into a true born vampire, but the constant blasphemies and heinous actions he took literally permanently cursed his land of Wallachia into the land of Transylvania which was a part of the Nightmare section of the Dream/Fae lands.
Which in reality was a fucking horror show as it was essentially a land in eternal Halloween where the barriers between realms thinned to all but nothing but instead of spirits coming to scare and have fun amongst the living like most visitors during Halloween, the monsters of Transylvania, were just that, monsters.
When Wonder Woman mused that we should put up the throne in a museum I gave a hard no, to that. "I as a proud American refuse to give the British Museum any of my loot from a pillage just on principle."
"Yeah, and I called dibs!" Galatea chimed in with Diana sighing and nodding.
"Very well, but Galatea at least allow me to document its findings... Wait you said Dracula's actual castle was in Hell itself?" Diana said in confusion as she seemingly just caught onto that little detail and after a great many more details, she declared that although the throne was genuine, the castle itself didn't match historic data she had memorized.
"Well of course it didn't match... It had a fucking moat of lava around it. Can you imagine an army of knights and peasants trying to conquer a castle surrounded by lava of all things?" I said to Diana making her raise an eyebrow to my sass and then hummed in thought as I explained how the immortal ghost living there had an army of Golems that may very well have changed the castle over the centuries after it was brought into Hell.
"Either way, I am happy to see you both have come back to us safely," Diana said smiling gently at us both, making my heart flutter a bit at the friendly smile she sent me.
The blessings of the Greek goddesses were no joke, and I could see why some villainesses had sworn an eternal vendetta against WW purely for her beauty.
"So how has my team been?" I asked as while I have been sticking with Wonder Woman for the last couple days, I had obviously not heard anything from Superboy and the others.
"Ah yes well they had to deal with Clayface in Gotham and then with how stressed and discordant they were, Batman had everyone go back to their mentors to get their heads on straight." Wonder Woman mused looking above my head as she was seemingly in through and then she snapped her fingers as she continued. "Well on the more super side of things, your friend Aquaboy had to also deal with Black Manta attacking a research center during his stay in Atlantis, but everything turned out fine as far as I know."
"Well, I am just glad everyone is still fine," I said sitting back in my chair as my mind was consumed with thoughts of whether the Light had actually gotten away with the chunk of the Starro for them to start their whole mind control the hero's goal.
After that, I basically spent the rest of the day in the small suite Wonder Woman had set aside for me to live in as her newest protege, and just as Galatea mentioned it definitely had a bit of a government vibe with overly decorated surroundings that I didn't want to touch out of fear of breaking something centuries older than I was. Not to mention the lack of a TV and whatnot which I was definitely in need of.
"Alright time for me to get back to Mount Justice... I need my bedroom TV and radio." I muttered as the dull sound of merely a fan couldn't keep my computer and tv addicted mind from going a bit stir-crazy without something more going on in the background.
