Chapter 14
After spending a good while beating the frustration out of Superboy, seeing his surly attitude come back as the whole team came together and watched almost the entire Justice League get their asses beat for literally several hours by the Amazo android that copied their powers made me want to go shoot a Cero into the Amazo bot as Superboy backslide into being moody again.
"We should be out there fighting!" He growled as he paced around the debriefing room that had the teleporter on the other side of the room. and for a moment I worried that he may just run off.
But Robin got his attention and made the clone deflate. "The battle is already over anyway. Black Canary will be here any minute so chill unless you want her to give you a psych evaluation."
As though speaking prophetically the Zeta Ray teleporter whirled to life with it announcing someone's arrival "Black Canary."
And out of the light came the most beautiful stripper of them all... No, seriously Black Canary one of the pillars of heroes and obviously an inspiration to women across the world was wearing a short leather jacket that covered some of her cleavage and short shorts with fishnet stockings covering her legs.
"Disregarding Kid Flash drooling like an English Bulldog may we help you Black Canary?" I said rolling my eyes as Kid Flash instantly the moment the superheroine came through the teleporter made some flirty comments.
"Yes, Lorde, was it?" She asked and I nodded. "I have come here to make sure you guys have been keeping up you're training and with how Batman and Red Tornado are busy cleaning up the scene of the battle with that Amazo machine I will be the one giving you a mission tonight."
Once we reached the training room, we all stood on one side of the ring while Black Canary stood on the other side.
"I wouldn't mind her training me all day long..." Kid Flash drooled as his eyes wouldn't leave the stocking-covered legs of Canary which granted those were plainly the best-sculpted legs, I had seen in real life matched only by Wonder Woman's slightly more muscular ones.
But I knew that you are only supposed to glance at a woman, not eye fuck her with all the subtly of a jackhammer breaking through a road.
"You want to go first. Kid?" Black Canary said as she folded her arms under her chest pushing her breasts up, but I could tell she was only using the motion to distract the teenager, especially with the way she put emphasis on calling Wally, Kid.
"Oh, hell yeah. So, what's the goal? General sparring, ring out or surrender?" Wally asked and I could see the rabid hormones boosted by his powers making his head go into the gutter as Black Canary put her body on all but display as she stretched on her side of the ring.
"Hmm let's go with whoever says uncle." She said sultrily and I couldn't help but facepalm as Canary's little mind game made Flash automatically think about 'pining' her to the ground and making her call uncle and in the split second it took for Kid Flash to dash forward with super speed, Black Canary with one swift motion swept her feet across the ground as she dropped down into a split and her leg sweep knocked Kid Flash sent him flying as his super speed kept his momentum when he lost connection to the ground.
"I guess speedsters have a bit of super durability..." I joked seeing Kid Flash literally skid face first across the mat for a dozen meters and when he dizzily stood back up, he didn't have anything worse than a bruise on him.
Then everyone had a go against Black Canary and even as I warned Superboy about her likely going for dirty tactics to get past his durability and strength he still bullheadedly rushed her down and was rewarded with Canary literally kicking her high heel's spike into his throat which made the super durable Kryptonian collapse to the ground choking like a bitch as Canary stepped over his form towards me.
"Did you learn anything or were you just staring at me?" She asked sarcastically as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ears.
"Don't worry I learned plenty," I said coolly as Kaldur and Wally helped Superboy off the mat and into one of the benches to watch my own ass-kicking.
"Well come on then kid." She said opening her arms as to welcome me for a hug and I obliged but just as I came out of my Sonido a few feet away from me and the flat of her palm was poised to jam into my nose I made sure my Sonido wasn't close enough for her to guess my position of entry and then even as he pulled her arm back to adjust herself I sighed as I unfurled my spiritual pressure and she smashed into the ground along with everyone else in the ground.
The air was screeching from my spiritual pressure ebbing and retracting from my body like a flame would dance in the wind. "Stand up... How am I supposed to learn from someone when they cannot even breathe in my presence," I said before cutting off my spiritual pressure and she finally managed to breathe deeply and roll over to her side.
Thankfully my teammates had some experience in me using such a thing and if anything, just being around me for a couple weeks had made them much more resistant to it as even Robin who had the weakest soul when I came here was still able to stand up when I fully unleashed my spiritual pressure.
"Heh well, I died in that fight." Black Canary said gamely as she got back to her feet with a wry grin. "So, what was that? I mean I know you are a spirit of sorts from your file, but that weight wasn't in the file at all." Black Canary questioned.
"I allowed the full weight of my soul to weigh upon the physical world. And honestly, for combat, I am not much for sparing as although I can certainly nonlethally take people down, but I fought demons in Hell for several months, so I have plenty of combat experience against all types of opponents."
I had a potent regeneration factor for a reason as I had taken plenty of damage in Hell, even losing limbs and such, but I won my fights no matter the cost, and that mindset had allowed me to become a Vasto Lorde through slaughter.
"Right... Maybe Wonder Woman or Superman would be a better sparring partner to see where you stand." She muttered as her lips twitched when I absently had some of my hair spread through the exercise room and with the 100,000 hairs on my head spreading through the exercise room like some silver eldritch pool of hair. The hairs then picked up all the heavy mortal weights that weren't ultra-dense free weights that weighed over a couple tons.
"Can I use these weights to fit you like Robin uses his gadgets? I won't use my spiritual pressure" I asked wryly as several tones of weights were arrayed around me as I stared at Black Canary who scoffed.
"I can't in good faith use my Canary cry on a teenager like you, so I am going to have to pass. You win kid." She said as she walked out of the arena seeing how even with the majority of my silver hair picking up the weights around the gym there were plenty more just floating above the ground surrounding the arena just waiting to entrap her.
"Alright kids... Anyway, besides this little monster here you all need more training when it comes to tactically fighting as most of you just bullrushed into the fight, or in Robins's case you don't have anything substantial other than your tricks. So, I suggest you pick up a weapon that can complement your martial arts as you are still young and need time to grow." Black Canary coached us as I went to sit by Kaldur.
"Now that your faults have been pointed out, I will be explaining the mission the League has elected to pass onto you."
Canary then went on to explain how we were supposed to escort a bunch of trucks that were carrying the parts of the Amazo android that the league fought with many of the trucks acting as decoys.
"Wait why the hell are we escorting a bunch of parts when if it's so important Superman or Wonder Woman could fly them over with no chance of them being stolen? Hell, why not just have them teleported via the teleporters we have hidden in every major city on the planet?" I asked incredulously at the realization that the League was using us as bait.
"Because we are strapped for personnel especially as a number of League members were injured fighting the android in question." She said weakly but even the rest of my teammates saw past her nonsense.
"Fine but if somehow the nanomachine Amazo puts itself together I am going to destroy it and there won't be any parts for Starlabs to keep around for another villain to steal," I said dryly with Canary raising a hand as though to argue my point, but I just cleared my throat to cut her off.
"If it took the League several hours to beat it in a fight then for the lives of my teammates, I am not going to toy around with it." I finished and she nodded in understanding.
"Well, the trucks are outside the Mountain. Go ahead and use the motorcycles we prepared for you all to escort the trucks to Starlabs." Canary ordered and we all stood up from our seats and prepared to leave.
