Chapter 100

I open my eyes, get off my bed, and stretch. It has been a peaceful couple of days, and I am glad. The only thing I need to do is to teach Nurarihyon and his people how to use my Senjutsu technique.

However, I did not need to teach them for a long time. Just like Yasaka, Nurarihyon is a monster in learning a new technique. He absorbs all my teaching like a thirsty man drinking water. He absorbs all the knowledge and is already mastering it.

He still needs to learn how to control his absorption rate as he is still used to his old technique. However, I know he can control his absorption rate in three days to a week.

His grandson, on the other hand… He is a real monster. He has a learning rate that is so high he is already starting to learn my swordsmanship. He can only copy the water breathing technique, but it is already praiseworthy.

Nurarihyon apologized for his grandson stealing my technique, but I didn't mind it and was even willing to teach him the Water Breathing technique.

And that is why Rikuo Nura will go to the school where Kunou goes so he can learn under me. I never thought that I would gain an apprentice, but here we are.

I shake my head and enter the bathroom to clean myself. What should I eat for today? Hmmm, I want some ramen. I think I have a few instant ramen in the cupboard. Let's eat that.

I leave the bathroom and go to the kitchen to cook some food. I take some of the ramen from the cupboard and boil some water. After cooking the ramen and the soft-boiled egg, I take them to the table.

When I was about to eat them, I could see a familiar blue panel appear in front of me.

|It has been a week! Do you want to spin?|

I press Y and prepare for a headache or some kind of pain. However, after waiting for a few seconds, nothing happened. I open my eyes and look at the panel in front of me.

|Congratulations! You get 40 Bitcoin!|

Another Bitcoin? Oh, well. I might as well donate some of them to the local orphanage or something. Yeah, let's do that. I took my phone and sold some Bitcoins. I have many of them, and I am set for life with my income from working as a healer.

It is a shame that I did not get anything to increase my power, but I am not complaining. I shake my head and start to eat my food. Today will be a busy day.

"Good! Make sure your body is relaxed but ready to move at any moment. As its name suggests, the Water Breathing technique mimics how water moves. It is flexible and versatile."

I look at the young man in front of me, panting as I teach him more about the Water Breathing technique.

"Hmmm, your breathing technique is still not good enough to use the other forms of this technique. We are done for now. Take a break, and we will continue our breathing training."

Riku nods his head and gives me a bright smile.

"Yes, Shishou!"

I smile a little and pat his head. As I walk away from the arena, I can see Nurarihyon standing there with a grin on his face.

"Yo, Ryan!"

"Nurarihyon. What are you doing here? You said that you need to investigate the weird movement of a certain group of youkai, right?"

Yesterday, Nurarihyon said that he got a lead on the information we need. He said he would be away for a moment, but I did not know it would be this quick.

"Bah. The others will take care of it. My grandson is more important. How is he?"

"Riku is doing great. Sadly, his stamina and breathing have not yet reached the requirement to learn another form other than the first one."

"Hmmm, that is to be expected. He is still young and never once takes his training seriously. He only gets serious when he is learning under your wing. It looks like he finally found a sword technique that he loves and is willing to learn seriously."

"Then I am glad that my swordsmanship makes him interested in training."

Nurarihyon laughs and slaps my back before saying.

"Don't be too humble, Ryan. You are a prodigy that makes your own sword technique. You deserve that praise and more."

I can only nod at his words.

"Right. Anyway, how is the investigation? Get anything new?"

Nurarihyon hums for a few seconds before saying.

"Yeah. I got a new piece of information. There is a sighting of a cultist group that I feel has a connection with the group that is selling Heavenly Ore."

"Oh? Is it the cult of Yamata no Orochi?"

"No. This one is different. This one is more subtle and, in my opinion, more dangerous. This cult is the one worshiping Tamamo no Mae. They are a cult that preys upon humans through charm techniques or an outright mind-control technique. However, what makes them subtle is that they did not kill their prey. They make them come to their nest every day and become a walking generator for them."

I frown at that word and say.

"That is one thing I did not understand. What do they need humans for? They did not need to revive their patron, right? Tamamo no Mae is still alive and sealed."

"Truthfully, I don't know. We think they want that energy to feed their patron when they release her. I hate the guy, but Abe no Seimei is a great Onmyouji, the best even to this day. Even when they manage to get her out of her prison, Tamamo will be weak, very weak. She needs a lot of life force to return to her prime state. The other one is to increase their own strength."

"Ah, that makes sense."

We continue talking while walking out of the training ground, but before we can leave, a one-eyed youkai stands before us. By the look and feel he is releasing, this man is an Oni.

"Ah, Zen! What is it?"

"Commander, we managed to find a trace of the Tamamo Cult."

"Oh, perfect! Where is it?"

"Takei Island."

Takei Island, huh? That is not too far away from Kyoto. Takei Island is in the middle of Biwa Lake.

"I see." Nurarihyon nods with a frown on his face. "Gather the other. We will march and investigate the island."

The Oni nods and leaves the training ground.

"Right. It looks like I need to go to work. Let's–"

Before he can finish that word, I say.

"Let me join this investigation."

He looks at me seriously and says,

"Are you serious? This will be dangerous, and if you join us, I want you to follow my orders and never go without my say."

I look at him and say.

"Yes."

Nurarihyon nods and says.

"Very well. Welcome to the Hyakki Yakō (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons)."
