Noah didn't have trouble finding Eve, spotting her fiery red hair. She was almost entirely dressed in black leather, with two swords strapped on her back, one significantly longer than the other.

"You're not wearing a mask." stated Eve as he came close enough for them to talk.

"There would be little point right now." shrugged Noah. "I teleported with a group of people from the Northern Continent, all with animal features. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together would identify me in seconds. Once there are more players with the new classes milling around, I'll be able to become anonymous again."

"Alright." nodded Eve. She could see dozens of Players in the plaza paying attention to her and Noah.

"Let's go somewhere secluded. We'll need to travel for a while to make sure we aren't bothered."

Noah nodded and followed her toward the eastern border of Azure Dragon City.

"You found something, about him?" asked Eve after a while.

"Yes." nodded Noah. "I have the overall picture, even if there's a few important mysteries remaining unsolved. Him, and my investigation, everything is linked together. But we can't talk about it here."

As soon as they reached the city's eastern gate, Eve summoned a black horse, and Noah summoned his own. They rode in silence for about half an hour, until Eve left the road and headed for a mountain.

"There's a cave I found nearby. It has enough room, and we should be alone for a while." said Eve.

Noah nodded and followed her.

They did find a group of six Players near the cave's entrance, farming a bunch of Lvl15 giant scarabs.

They noticed them coming closer and adopted a defensive formation. Before their leader could open his mouth, Eve unsheathed her large red sword and unleashed a horizontal slash, killing them all in a single strike. They would reappear in Azure Dragon City, cursing their unknown assailant. It was likely that at least one of them would associate the overwhelming power with the long red hair, and rumors about Eve being at that location would fly in short order.

But Eve and Noah would have at least a few minutes, and the duel likely wouldn't last long.

Eve and Noah entered the cave. It quickly enlarged to a room with a fairly even ground, twenty meters wide.

"I challenged you to a duel to the death, and you accepted." nodded Eve as she turned to face him, and Noah equipped his sword and shield.

"However, I suspect that if we use our classes' skills, the duel will be over in an instant, and I won't be able to really know what you're made of."

"That is likely, yes." nodded Noah. "Are you suggesting something different?"

Eve nodded.

"We do not use any skills or item, only pure swordsmanship. And we stop just short of hitting each other."

"A spar, then." nodded Noah. "I prefer it that way."

Eve nodded, and they both adjusted their stance.

She was the first to move, closing the distance with the grace of a cat, one sword in each hand.

She slashed at him from two directions at the same time, and Noah lifted his shield and angled it in order to block both hits at the same time using opposite edges of the shield.

"I've seen that trick before." snorted Eve.

Noah wasn't disappointed that his move failed and slowly stepped toward Eve, shield raised.

Eve suddenly threw her larger sword at him. Noah deflected it away with his shield, losing visual contact with Eve for a fraction of a second. When he saw her again, she was dashed forward and making a small jump, her empty hand reaching for the upper edge of his shield.

Noah knew instantly was she was going to do. "I serve a Goddess named Lilith, Eve. Her power is night immeasurable, and she has created hundreds, maybe thousands of worlds populated by humans and other sapient races. But in-between Deities like Lilith, and mortals, there is a category of immortal or very long-lived beings who call themselves Gods, powerful enough to lord over mortals. Sacred Beast aren't quite there yet, but the members of the true Moon God Clan belong to that category. And the Mad Scientist belongs to that clan."

"He's a God?" frowned Eve.

"What I call a local God, yes. Not anywhere near Lilith on the power scale, but stronger than the vast majority of the Sacred Beasts, probably. Did Bing Yao inform you about what the Fairies told us regarding the Lunar Scourge's creation?"

"She did." nodded Eve. "But I still don't see what some in-game lore may have to do with the Mad Scientist."

"The true Moon God Clan existed in the real world and went extinct after the strongest of them rebelled, created the Lunar Scourge, killed the others, then died himself. The issue is that those local gods are not staying dead. They have started to reincarnate, conserving the memories of their previous lives. The Mad Scientist is one of them. He has three allies that I know of, and they are significantly stronger than him. Their goal is to use Mystic Moon to harvest souls by the billions, because each sapient mortal possesses within their soul a minuscule fleck of divine power, granted by a real God like Lilith."

"…Where did you get this information?" frowned Eve as she digested the information.

"I can't tell you right now, in case you end up being captured." shrugged Noah. "But it is reliable. I have confirmed some of it using an independent source, and Lilith herself gave me a few clues that also confirm it."

"…If this is true… Wait, the Moon God Clan is said to have destroyed a whole continent before. Are they truly that strong? How can we fight beings like that?" asked Eve as color left her face.

"I do not think their current selves are anywhere near that strong. Maybe they can destroy cities, but not countries or continents. Maybe they used some kind of superweapon before to destroy that continent and don't have it anymore. Still, we can't face the Mad Scientist just yet. "I do not doubt it." smiled Noah. "You are the Eve, after all, the mysterious Goddess of War who still managed to keep her identity private to this day. "When we fought earlier, I noticed you had three rings of similar design in your right hand. And you mentioned once having found in a cave an item that seemed to break the game's balance."

"…Yes, it is it." nodded Eve. "That set of rings is named Lachesis, and it even has its own item spirit. Mo'er claims that Lachesis was on the same level as the Lunar Scourge."

For my part in helping them revolt and kill their overlords, Lilith repurposed the island and gifted it to me. She placed it in a permanent pocket dimension only I and my subordinates can reach, so that no enemies can ever threaten my home."

"I see…" nodded Eve, secretly impressed. If what Noah was telling was true, that island showcased a huge difference between what he called a Local God, and a being like Lilith.

"But if Lilith is so powerful, couldn't she deal with the Mad Scientist and his allies easily, by snapping her fingers of something?"

"She could, easily." nodded Noah. "And If I fail to stop this catastrophe, Lilith will step in and solve the issue in an instant. But the Gods have lived for a long, long time, Eve. People watching and placing bets on what will happen seem to be among their favorite hobbies, and they have a policy to avoid direct interference whenever possible.
