Chapter 274 – The Hidden Wives
*** Geta ***
I knew that Phoenix was pregnant. What was with that wandering route to find Alzi in a building without seeing her?
Well, I've given her enough time with Alzi. I give the door a knock, "Looking for Alzi," I say.
"How many more of you are there going to be?" a devil calls out.
"Should just be me," I say.
"Fine," she says, opening the door. "Shimmer's maid is standing outside the door. Keep it down if you all start fucking."
"Thank you," I say. "I don't think we'll be fucking."
*** Alzi ***
"How would they live among your people while I raise them?" I ask.
"You would have two homes and spend time in both, or after Elora is done pretending to be Queen, we could move to my realm for a few kids to grow up there and then move to where you wish, or move to where you wish then take a short break to live in my realm for a bit."
I put my hand on her head and feel the warmth radiating off her hair. Magic must be the only thing that keeps this room from lighting on fire. But how did she hide all of this?
"Alzi, dear, may I come in?" Geta asks.
"I love you, Alzi," Shimmer says for some reason.
"Let her in," I mumble. How many of my wives are going to come streaming in? How many are going to shed a disguise?
"Enter," Sarania says.
"Zogloraz," Geta says, entering. "You've found a way to keep your head and have a child."
"Sarania," Sarania says. "Do not use that name."
"That is your name," Geta says. "Do not run from your past. We all have something hiding back there. Just accept it."
"What is your secret?" I ask.
"I see, Shimmer gave it up," Geta says. "Or was it Zogloraz?"
"Sarania," I say.
"What are you to my husband?"
"Her servant."
"Children are that important to you? I guess Alzi is worth it, even without the kids," Geta says.
"My Mistress asked you to spill it," Sarania says. "Don't make me fight near the kids."
Geta's armor disappears, making it now four grown women who are naked in this room. An issue for my dick, as three of them are quite pretty, the fourth being myself. Please don't trick me into having sex in front of my newborns.
Her skin turns black, gold runes like the one on Sarania's stone now etched into her skin. Her eyes are replaced with red light sunken into her skull. Two animal horns grow atop her head.
What kind of magic is needed to hide all these features? Shimmer has her wings, and Geta has her horns. How did I not notice them?
"Valkyrie of death," Shimmer spits out. "What do you want with Alzi? All your kind signify is death and calamity. I will not have that in my family; what has been happening is bad enough. And I will not have it continue. All that power, and yet, you couldn't stop our husband from being taken."
"I am here for the same reason as you are," Geta says. "Children with Fertility's first champion. Death herself is too scared to ask Fertility for a child and wanted me to test if it was possible."
"I slept with death?" I mumble, looking at every detail on the woman's skin. Is it history that's been etched into her body, or power?
"She isn't death," Shimmer says. "Just one of the women who guide the dead to their final resting place. Someone who could've kept you from being taken. Someone who should've seen the death coming to our house that night. Did the Goddess of Death cut off your sight, or do we not understand how it works? We lost several maids in that fight, and our husband was raped. How could you not do anything?"
"Just like you?" Geta says. She takes a few steps towards me, her breasts growing out to beat Shimmer's massive size. Is Sarania stronger? "I am no Goddess. I have no sight to see the dead before they die. I am not a follower of the Goddess of the Future. I see their souls after they die, not before. I had the same knowledge you did and the same chance to stop the acts that you did."
"I was fighting," Shimmer said. "I am not that strong. You eclipse me in both power and Skills. In everything, you beat me. If you failed, then I had no chance to do anything. I was on the wrong side of the battlefield. You had the best chance of saving her. You could've caught up to them."
"I am slow when I am not dealing with the dead. I lacked the power to catch them; I'm not so stuck in my cover that I would let them take Alzi. You called out a true Phoenix. You had strength to spare."
"No, I had to give up a lot for the Phoenix to answer my call. There is no Skill to summon a Phoenix. I can just open a path for one to take if they are willing, and even then, I had to borrow some of her mana to make that happen."
I dare to pat my thigh, seeing if Geta has decided to be a submissive or still holds some pride in herself.
"Hmph," Geta lets out. "Fine." The massive Valkyrie kneels down on the other side and carefully sets her head down beside Shimmer. "Even dragonkin are bold."
"Explain yourselves," I say. "I'm not happy, to make it short."
"If I am discovered, a lot of problems will come our way before you are ready," Geta says. "Death doesn't know the future or causes death. I was following the rules of marriage and listened to the head wife. I just wish for one chance at a kid. If it works, I am to serve you until the child has grown up. Then, we can separate or continue to be together. That is if you accept my service and try to give me a child."
"Wait, Geta," I say. "I got you pregnant already. In the camp."
"No, that was probably the changeling. A spy that the Ashmark family planted in our house," Geta says. "She'll be yours to do with as you please. She is still pregnant."
Damn, the Ashmarks weren't done with me even after I was sold. They're at the top of my fucking list, and I'll start with their fucking pet. I don't know what a changeling really is, but I think it would give me a cute kid if it survives. Worst case, I'll just have a fun toy for a few months.
"I told you already. I did not have the strength to stop you from being taken," Shimmer says. "I was fighting. What Geta is referring to was a prayer I made to a friend of mine. She sees me as a pet, really. Something that amuses her. I promised I would get her a meeting with you, Alzi, and I let her take almost all my mana. And it will be drained once a year for the next decade to pay back my debt. The meeting can wait until you are strong enough to make sure she can't force you to do anything."
"Do you think you can force me to meet with her?"
"No," Shimmer says. "No, I will need to give you a reason to meet with her. I have a few ideas, but right now, they are pointless. You aren't strong enough, even with Sarania helping you. Maybe with Geta coming along, you could handle her, but it would be best for you to have the power yourself. Just to be safe. She may lie to get you alone and then take what she wants from you."
"If you fail to get me to meet her?"
"I would be in trouble," Shimmer says. "No risk to you."
Sure, like that has ever worked out for me. "What did the true Phoenix do?" I ask.
"She annihilated the enemy army," Geta says. "All were killed. It was not fun handling all of them and keeping Elora from finding out about me."
Tirlo lets out a cry, waking up her sisters, who join her in a choir of hungry cries. Cries that get my always full breasts leaking in an instant.
"I have kids to feed. Leave us," I say.
"My Mistress will join her family later," Sarania says, getting up to start feeding our kids. "Geta, send me a message when you have a building you are staying in, and we will move over there. My Mistress is needed to feed the kids as well."
"Very well," Geta says. "Alzi, I'm happy you are ok and free. I know you have a lot of old pain coming back, but we would love to help you with that."
"Yes, we do wish to help you," Shimmer says. They both stand up and return to their old forms, Geta hiding her horns and skin while Shimmer's pregnancy disappears with her burning wings and red hue.
Sarania brings me two of my daughters, and childcare begins. My time with the first kids I get to keep.
*** Shimmer ***
"Do you think that went well?" I ask Geta. "I think it could've gone worse and may have been the best we could've managed with all the developments. I can't believe we didn't know Sarania was going to be her servant when she was free. I should've looked into her. She is known to hang around brothels, and Alzi is a great target for her. She's even had a kid with Alzi already."
"I think we are counting on Alzi liking the fact that she had two powerful women willing to be her servants. Otherwise, we are going to have to come up with other plans to get her to remarry us," Geta says. "I didn't think of keeping track of the old demons and devils. So few are still alive, and yet, Alzi managed to meet one that is still sane and wanted what she offered."
"You're mad you had to kneel before her," I say. "You kneel all the time to your Goddess. What is so bad about kneeling to a multi-champion? The first of her kind. You saw the tattoos. And what were they? It was Luck, Contract, and, I think, Destruction, all on her front. I felt Space from her backside."
"I'm not like you. I'm not naturally submissive," Geta says. "I serve my Goddess, and that is why I am here. I like Alzi, but not to the point that I am happy to blindly do as she says. And yes, I'm sure my Goddess is happy with Destruction being born. The other two are interesting. Power is pregnant, and everyone thinks Space is as well. Alzi would be the father for Space, and Fertility for Power."
"I am not naturally submissive. I am just bonded to her. There is a big difference between the two. If anyone else in the family asks or hints for me to do something like that, I'll burn their hair off. I'm already at my limit, swallowing my pride, letting Elora be the head of the family."
"You kissed the woman's feet."
"I kissed my bond's feet. It is different. I still plan on becoming Queen after my Mother and ruling my realm. Don't think for a second that I'm weak. But will you support me in making Alzi the new head of the family?"
"Yes, if Alzi will let Elora project herself publicly as the head of the family. Elora does handle that part well, and Alzi will have little interest in that work. Give her the real power behind the scenes, and she may accept."
"Do you honestly think that?" I ask. Elora should have the city under control by now, as I don't think there is any resistance left in the city. We were shouting out to nobody, demanding a bunch of ghosts open the gates.
"Not really. Odds are this marriage is going to fall apart if Elora doesn't get lucky."
