Chapter 32- Let’s not meet anymore…
"...you know I have only seven minutes remaining, and still you haven't spoken a word, why were you so troubled, right?"
It's been over twenty minutes since Kei came to meet Karen since he sensed a barrage of distress from his connection before he decided to meet her.
For safety, he left an imperfect yet appearance-wise, showable clone back in Fujiwara's residence inside the bathroom. But he cannot stay there forever, and given Kaori's experience, she would suspect Kei's clone within the first line of interaction.
Kei wanted to calm Karen down, so she doesn't panic anymore, and he could return on time. But after the little banter on the balcony, Karen brought Kei inside her apartment, and after making him sit on the couch, she just curled up in his lap.
With her hand hanging on his neck and ear connected to his chest, Karen closed her eyes and enjoyed her peaceful time, which unexpectedly seemed more relaxing than any experiences she had.
But she knew she couldn't keep Kei for long, and his words also helped her to face reality.
"I was worried about you. That's why you felt such ripples in my emotions."
Karen spoke in a slightly dejected tone as she separated her face away from him. Her disheveled hair was covering her face partially, but that fact gave another charm to the vampiric maiden.
Kei wanted to tug her hair, but he wasn't good with such gestures because of the lack of women relations. Even when she sat on his lap all of a sudden, it took Kei some time before his heart settled down.
"Why were you worried, tho? You know such a thing couldn't hurt me."
Indeed Karen was aware of what entity Kei actually is, but still, her heart was a mess at the thought. However, this was something she couldn't explain to him, nor could she explain it to herself.
Karen kept staring at his endless abysmal eyes for quite some time before she shook her head, refusing to answer before she again draped her head over his chest.
"Hey, Kei. Why don't you live here? With me?"
Kei's eyes went slightly wide upon hearing such an absurd request before he denied it without putting much thought into it.
"You know I shouldn't, Karen. And I am only staying at Fujiwara's until I don't get a new house which this high schooler Kei can afford."
His idea was clear. He would leave Ryuuta's home as soon as he got somewhere he could settle. Despite their goodwill, Kei didn't want to rely on someone for longer than he should.
Karen again separated her face with her hold on his neck growing a little stiff. Narrowing her gaze, she asked with a pout.
"Then consider this place as your temporary residence and leave that house. I promise I won't surveil you like that woman has done."
Kei instantly understood what it was all about. He was aware that Kaori was keeping a tab on his movements for some time and also had hacked into his cell. He was skeptical about that situation and decided to talk it through with Kaori when the time came.
But Kei was perplexed, why was Karen acting so influenced by him being observed?
"Why are you so offended when I am the one who is getting his privacy breached?"
Karen rolled her eyes upon hearing, but this was something she expected from Kei.
"Kei-kun, let me ask you something real simple. Why would a girl get jealous when she sees a different woman hogging a man, all for herself?"
Kei heard her words and registered them accordingly. It didn't take him time to land upon the conclusion.
Despite not having any girlfriend in the past, Kei hasn't developed the title of being dense unlike his friend. He clearly understood what Karen meant, but rather than being excited or anything else, a dark feeling erupted inside his heart—reminding him of a very unpleasant memory.
"Hey, Karen… "
For some apparent reason, Karen was able to sense the change of emotions he had at the moment, which made her regret why she even asked something like this?
But it was already late…
"....let's not meet anymore…
_____________….
Back in Fujiwara residence, Kaori was almost done with her preparation as she arranged the dining table. Her mind was wandering toward the bathroom since it's been a while, Kei had gone to take a bath.
But before she could have checked on him, Ryuuta came rushing down the stairs before he stood before her with evident panic on his face.
She instantly drew a barrier around her with a small capsule since she knew Ryuuta had brought some news from the underworld.
"Kamazaki clan has issued a red flag against the association. It seems, before you take any action against that bastard heir, the Kamazaki clan is seeking to land the first blow. "
Despite hearing a precise scenario of war, Kaori's expression was relaxed since she knew her reach in battleground and whom she should fear. As on date, there was none.
"Anything else? "
Ryuuta gulped hard in nervousness before finally mustering up the courage to confess the last piece of information he had received.
"Ji-Jii-chan wants to meet y-you. It seems, the Kamazaki clan has asked them to have the t-truce through political marria-. "
**CREAK**
The wooden spatula broke in two as an evil smirk spread across her beautiful face. With her eyes filling with a glint of nothing but murderous intent, she mumbled under her breath.
"Now this seems something interesting~
