Chapter 79: The Weight of Silver and Silk

The mid-morning sun was already beating down on the outer sect district by the time Kai walked through the rickety wooden gate of his home. The air smelled of damp soil and blooming jasmine, a stark contrast to the heavy musk of sex that he had left behind in Yun Xi’s bedroom.

He walked quietly into the small front yard.

There, tending to her small patch of medicinal flowers, was Ye Rou.

She was bent over at the waist, holding a heavy wooden watering can. She was wearing a thin, faded yellow linen dress that was practical for gardening, but wildly impractical for hiding her devastating figure. Because she was bending forward, the thin fabric pulled tight across the wide, soft flare of her hips, highlighting the plush curve of her rear. The neckline drooped significantly, giving the soil beneath her a direct view of her massive, heavy breasts hanging freely inside the bodice.

Kai stopped in his tracks.

He took a quiet step forward, coming right up behind her.

"Hey, Mom."

"Kyaa!"

Ye Rou jumped out of her skin. She spun around so fast she nearly dropped the watering can. The sudden, violent rotation of her body caused her massive breasts to swing with a heavy, delayed momentum. They jiggled wildly beneath the yellow linen, bouncing up and down with a mesmerizing, gelatinous rhythm before finally settling against her ribs.

"Oh, Kai!" she gasped, pressing a dirt-smudged hand to her heaving chest, right over her cleavage. "It's you! Heavens, you scared me!"

Kai chuckled, his eyes naturally dropping to watch her chest rise and fall. "Ahh, I am sorry, Mom. I didn't mean to sneak up on you."

Ye Rou let out a long breath, her sweet face flushed. "Oh, Kai... you've been not home from last night. You were at Yun Xi’s house all this time? I was so worried. I was just about to wash my hands and come to the Academy to see if you were there."

"Ahh, nah, Mom, it's okay," Kai lied smoothly, flashing her a charming, innocent smile. "It's just that we were studying very hard for the upcoming tests. I knew you must be worried, that's why I came back as fast as possible."

"Oh, Kai..." She smiled, her eyes crinkling with maternal affection. "You are working so hard."

But Kai didn't smile back. His enhanced perception caught the subtle downward twitch of her lips, the dark bags under her eyes, and the way her shoulders were slumped under a burden that had nothing to do with gardening. It wasn't about his absence. She was worried about something else entirely.

"Mom, is everything good?" Kai asked, stepping closer.

Ye Rou blinked, looking away quickly. "Yeah... umm, yeah. Everything's fine, Kai. But... why do you ask that?"

"Because your face is not saying that you are fine," Kai stated simply, his voice dropping into a firm, commanding register.

"What do you mean?" she deflected, forcing a bright, unconvincing laugh. She wiped her forehead with the back of her wrist. "I am totally fine, son! Why do you think that? Umm... maybe I am just working too much in the garden. The sun is very hot today, that's why my face looks like that."

Kai reached out and gently took the heavy watering can from her hands, setting it on the ground.

"Come on, Mom," Kai murmured, looking directly into her beautiful, tired eyes. "At least don't lie to your son. I know when you're stressed."

Ye Rou looked up at him. She saw the new breadth of his shoulders, the quiet, dangerous confidence radiating from him. He wasn't a fragile boy anymore. He was a man.

"Huh..." She let out a defeated sigh, her shoulders dropping completely. "Okay. Let's go inside. And then... I will tell you what happened. Okay?"

Kai nodded. "Okay."

They walked into the small, cool interior of the house. Ye Rou closed the door behind them and stood in the center of the room. She looked down at the floor, nervously curling the hem of her yellow dress around her fingers, inadvertently hiking the fabric up her smooth, thick thighs. She couldn't look him in the eyes.

"Kai... son..." she started, her voice trembling slightly. "It's very hard to manage everything lately, dear. We need money."

She bit her plump lower lip.

"It was easy to manage before, when it was just the basics. But now that you have awakened your cultivation and you have to go to the Academy... I have to also pay its tuition fees. The main family cut our stipend again, and I don't earn that much from selling these flowers in the market."

She looked up at him, her eyes filled with a desperate, self-sacrificing love.

"That's why I was thinking about what to do," she hurried to say, waving her hands defensively. "Maybe I can take up washing clothes for the inner sect disciples at night. But... but you don't have to stress about it, Kai! Mom will handle everything. I promise."

Kai looked at her. He looked at the worn fabric of her dress, the dirt on her soft hands, and the sheer desperation in her posture. A fierce, possessive anger flared in his chest—not at her, but at the world that made his beautiful stepmother struggle so much.

"Mom..." Kai stepped right into her personal space. "You don't have to do more work."

"But Kai—"

"I am old enough to do work," Kai interrupted, his voice absolute. "I will find some job. I will hunt spirit beasts or take bounties. I will pay my fee on my own."

Ye Rou’s eyes widened in horror. "No, dear! You can't! You should focus entirely on your Academy training! It's too dangerous, and who will give you work? You are still just a student. No, absolutely not. So leave everything to your mother, son."

Kai didn't argue with words. He acted.

He reached forward and wrapped his strong, muscular arms completely around her lush figure. He pulled her flush against his chest, engulfing her in a tight, dominating hug.

Squish.

Ye Rou gasped. Her massive, heavy breasts collided directly against the hard wall of his chest. The thin yellow linen provided almost zero barrier. Kai could feel the incredible, yielding softness of her flesh flattening against his muscles, and the sudden, intense friction sent a jolt of electricity straight to her core.

"Ahh... Kai, son..."

A small, breathless moan escaped her lips before she could stop it. Her knees felt instantly weak as his hot breath brushed against her ear.

"Mom, I told you," Kai murmured, his voice a low, vibrating hum that traveled directly through her chest. "You don't have to worry about anything. I will do something about it. I don't want you to work until your hands bleed."

He tightened his grip, his hands pressing firmly into the soft, chubby curve of her lower back.

"It's a shame for me as a man—as a son—if I let you stress so much. I will protect you."

Ye Rou’s heart hammered a frantic rhythm against her ribs. The physical contact was overwhelming. She could feel his strength, his heat, and the undeniable masculine energy radiating from him. Her eyes grew teary, completely overwhelmed by the fact that her boy cared for her so fiercely.

"Oh, Kai..." she sobbed softly, surrendering to the embrace.

She wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders and hugged him tighter. She pressed her massive breasts even harder against him, completely abandoning her modesty to find comfort in his strength.

"My lovely boy..." she whispered into his neck, her nipples inadvertently hardening against his chest from the intense emotional and physical friction.

They stood there in the quiet room, completely wrapped in each other, the line between maternal affection and primal attraction blurring dangerously into oblivion. Kai buried his face in her sweet-smelling hair, savoring the feeling of her soft, heavy body trembling against his.

KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.

The sharp, sudden sound of knuckles hitting the front door shattered the silence like a dropped plate.

Ye Rou gasped, her eyes flying open. She completely froze, her chest heaving heavily against Kai's.

They slowly let out the hug, peeling their bodies apart. Ye Rou took a step back, her face flushed a deep, burning crimson, suddenly hyper-aware of how tightly they had just been holding each other. She hastily smoothed down the front of her wrinkled dress, trying to calm her racing heart.

"Oh... it must be someone," she stammered, avoiding his dark, hungry gaze. "Let... let me see it, Kai."

She quickly turned around, her wide hips swaying as she hurried toward the entryway. She reached out, grasped the iron handle, and pulled the wooden door open...
