Chapter 5: The Talk

Victor did not believe he had held a more awkward conversation in his life than the one he was about to do. He would rather go fight the [demon king] again than have to tell his one-year-old son about all the responsibilities of being a man, even though he was still essentially a child. One year was not enough time to teach a boy everything about adulthood when, at least physically speaking, he was considered an adult.

He slowly turned the knob to enter his son's room and saw his child with his head smothered into his pillow.

"Is everything ok son?"

His son immediately hopped up from his prone position to stare right at him.

"Dad... Why can't I hug soft mom anymore?..." There was a helpless whine in her voice.

"Straight to the jugular... well I guess you are my son," he mumbled to himself as he approached the boy.

He grabbed a chair next to a wooden desk and sat next to him. His expression was grave, which he defaulted to anytime he was unsure, embarrassed or just feeling shy.

"Son. What I am about to tell you is a matter of grave importance." He cringed inside, this was not a good way to start a conversation between men and monster girls.

Thankfully, his son did not know any better and his initial despondent look shifted to that of one with complete enwrapped attention. Now where to start? He figured breaking it down from a very basic level and working his way up was as good as any. He started.

"See, have you ever seen your moms eat?"

Simon shook his head.

"You have seen me eat."

He nodded.

"We are both 'adults' so why do we not eat the same thing?"

Simon only tilted his head in confusion.

Taking the plunge Victor started.

"You see son. Monster girls like your moms have a very special diet. And the food they can eat is only produced by men like us."

Simon perked up as if a light bulb went off in his head.

"Like how I can only drink milk from mom-mom?"

As he said that, he looked down at his chest in confusion before looking back at him.

"But dad... I don't see any milk leaking out..."

Victor could stop it, he snorted trying to contain his laughter and his morning coffee almost left his stomach the wrong way.

"...No son... We do not produce it from our chest. It is your pee-pee that produces it."

Simon looked disgusted now.

"They eat pee?!?" He asked with horrified shock.

That was the last dam, Victor burst out in uproarious laughter. Simon for his part only looked surprised but now there was a confused smile on his face.

"No son." He had to take a deep breath to calm himself down before he continued.

"Our pee-pee produces a special liquid when we become an adult. It only happens when your pee-pee becomes hard, if you touch it enough while it is hard sticky white stuff called essence comes out which is the only thing monster girls can eat." After his son's outrageous claims Victor found speaking on this matter to be much simpler than he thought. Instead, he looked to see what his son's 'out of the box' mind would think of next.

Understanding dawned on Simon as he spoke up in excitement.

"Is that why I was never allowed to touch my pee-pee? Because I would be wasting food?"

Now that answer was a lot more complicated but Victor decided to wing it anyway. He had not had a good laugh in a good long while and right now he was in a very chatty mood. The next part was serious though and he hardened his face to show it.

"Yes and no. Son, do you know why soft mom left your room?"

Simon looked slightly downtrodden as he shook his head.

"You see, son. Monster girls get attached to the people who feed them. If the same person feeds the monster girl enough times she can no longer take other kinds of food."

Simon looked at him with all the seriousness his young mind could muster.

"Like how cow aunt can't feed me despite producing milk like mom-mom."

There was more to it. For how the monster girl gives a part of her being to the tamer, becoming effectively immortal as long as the trainer existed. They also become obsessively in love with the tamer, which could manifest in different ways. Kit wanted a 'playmate'. Cathy wanted a 'calf' to feed and take care of, and Demigora tried to make him a [demon king].

But for now, that answer was enough.

"Yes. And other food does nothing to them."

Simon now squinted.

"But I did not want to feed soft mom..."

Victor looked at his son with a soft smile that hid a bit of pain. The boy was incredibly attached to Kit, which was by design. If he only understood how little she cared about the boy, his little heart would shatter. The only reason Kit was doing any of this was that Victor managed to make it a game to her. Even her 'affection' was crafted perfectly to make sure Simon had good growth. If only Simon saw the annoyance on Kit's face when she came up to him to ask to deal with the 'child'. Victor did not dare think about it. Kit did not actively try to harm anyone but in her head only two people had any real value to her. Herself and her tamer. Everything else was a 'game'. But as long as Victor kept up the 'game', his son's childhood would be happy enough to not fall to demonic tendencies.

Simon was still waiting expectantly for an answer.

"You see son. Men who feed them are called tamers, remember every man is a tamer in some capacity. Tamers collect monster girls and make 'wives' out of them. Soft mom thought you wanted to make her your 'wife' which can't happen because she is already mine. Once a monster girl becomes a 'wife' to a tamer she can never change to another tamer."

Simon wanted to say something in the middle but hearing his whole explanation he quieted down, looking slightly sad.

Victor knew what his son wanted to say next. It probably was along the lines of whether he could 'tame' his moms. But he was thankful it was not possible. Monster girls were not wives if anything they were closer to obsessive co-dependent war machines and even 'mom-mom', the being that gave birth to him, would slaughter him and then sleep like a baby as long as Victor was okay and happy. But the nuance of monster girls was something Simon had his whole life to figure out. To scare him now would be a great blow to his growth and Victor had come too far to fail now.
