Chapter 94: Second Fight
Simon was back on his feet after about an hour's worth of time sitting on his ass.
The cold stone floor for a very poor sitting arrangement and he had bodies sitting on his lap the entire time, one of whom was made of literal stone.
To say that his legs had fallen asleep was an understatement, he could barely feel them for the moment. Granted he might have been better off if he only fed the golem but that was not what happened. Two of the three monster girls were injured and he had felt obligated to feed them, afterward. That was not all, the spider looked terribly lonely when all was said and done so of course Simon wanted to include her in the entire thing.
All of that cost him an hour and any feeling he had in his legs followed by that horrendous sensation that happened when blood flooded back into his legs.
Thankfully, he did not have to immediately walk, instead, he got to sit on the massive carapace that made the lower half of his spider. One would not expect it but the chitinous lower half was carpeted with a layer of soft hair and was rather spacious making it an exquisite seat.
On top of that, every single one of his companions including the golem with whom he felt the inkling beginnings of a bond being formed looked supercharged. They radiated off this energy that Simon feel that they would fuck up whatever the dungeon threw at them.
Which he could very quickly prove as not even five minutes after they started travelling another group of statues rushed them.
He immediately yelled.
"Stop!"
Both the cat and the lizard looked like they were about to leap, and Simon was thankful they did not engage. He did not want a repeat of the prior brawl. While his personal tank was still relatively full, healing after every fight felt like a waste of resources.
The statues had no such reservations and were still rushing at them at a very fast pace especially given that they were made of literal stone.
Simon was about to give a command before he stopped.
He realized something.
He had never actually commanded his monster girls in battle before. His personal ones seemed to have been able to shred anything and everything without any input from him.
That momentary lapse in judgment was enough for his opponents to gain the initiative. The low stone golems(Simon realized that was what their official title was based on the little guide he was given) charged at the lizard and cat that made his front line.
"Get out of the way!" He shouted.
It was almost too late, however, in a show of incredible speed and dexterity both the cat and the lizard narrowly dodge their attackers causing the golems to slam into the wall with a very loud *BANG!*.
He was suddenly very nervous, he had never prop commanded before and the last clusterfuck of a fight did not count. Unlike his personal girls, these ones actually had a chance to fail. Something he had completely forgotten was a possibility.
This was compounded by the fact, in actuality he knew of no tactic or combat maneuver he could shout out for them to obey. All he could think to say at the moment was,
"Attack!"
It was very rudimentary and he realized an error a moment after he had said it.
He had not specified who would be attacking. So naturally his command caused everyone to rush to the five opponents, including the spider girl that had him on her back.
"Wai..! Woah!"
The sudden jerk as she accelerated from stationary to blindingly fast him fall off her back as she used her massive size to tackle the nearest opponent.
Surprisingly, he found his footing midfall and landed on his feet with a surprising amount of grace even though the still-present buzzing sensation made him wish he did not have to do it.
But at the same time, something inside him snapped into place, and he had forgotten the unpleasantries as his mind focused on the fight.
His pack was fairing very well against their opponents, however, the coordination between them left a lot to be desired, they were not fighting as a unit but as separate entities that happened to be on the same team.
An unintended growl escaped his lips as looked at the mess.
However, just his angry thoughts seemed to have an effect.
There was this shift, it was very subtle but he noticed. Their prey was already on the back foot but now he could feel his betas carol them into a quick and efficient kill without all the wasted energy mere moments ago. Good, an efficient pack was a prosperous pack.
Very quickly the fight was over and they claimed victory with very little wasted energy.
Simon blinked.
What... had just happened?
