Chapter 140
As the Bahamut familia settled into a cozy private room within the Guild, the air thick with anticipation.
Rose, regarded Draco with a mixture of curiosity and concern, her brow furrowed slightly.
"So, can anyone explain what happened to him?" she asked, her finger pointing toward Draco with an inquisitive tilt of her head.
Draco could sense the intrigue radiating from Rose, but he hesitated.
This was delicate territory, one he preferred to navigate with caution.
"It’s nothing much. His transformation is due to some perks of his race. I’m sure you have it in the guild records that his species is rare and unusual," Bahamut interjected, her voice smooth and confident.
“Ah yes, if I remember correctly, he stated that he was a dragon kin,” Rose acknowledged, her eyes narrowing as she awaited further elaboration.
“That’s right,” Bahamut replied, the corners of her mouth curling into a knowing smile.
“Saying anything else would be an infringement of our familia secrets.” Bahamut stated.
Rose’s expression shifted, a mix of disappointment and understanding crossing her face.
She wanted to press for more details, but the goddess’s words were a clear boundary.
Draco felt a wave of relief wash over him. He had entrusted Bahamut with this responsibility for a reason; it provided a layer of protection not just for him but for Rose as well.
After all, she was a guild employee, bound by her duty to report anomalies.
The conversation shifted, and Rose quickly recomposed herself.
“Is there anything else that is pressing?” she asked, her professional demeanour returning.
Her curiosity had momentarily been stifled, but she was eager to get to the heart of the meeting.
“Ahem, I will take it from here,” Draco said, rummaging through his bag with a sense of purpose.
He pulled out a stack of papers and placed them firmly on the table, letting them land with a soft thud that echoed in the quiet room.
“What is this?” Rose asked, her fingers already reaching for the sheets.
As she dragged them closer, Draco felt a surge of excitement.
He had meticulously removed all stats and skill information prior to presenting them, ensuring confidentiality.
As Rose skimmed through the first page, her eyes widened in disbelief.
“Is this really true?” she stammered, her voice trembling with astonishment.
Draco nodded, a broad smile spreading across his face.
This was the reaction he had hoped for. He could sense her internal struggle — the joy of accomplishment mixed with the concern for the implications of such rapid growth.
She was well aware of the uproar this would cause when the information spread.
She was still trying to wrestle with the potential fallout from Draco’s first level up, but now he had doubled down.
‘Wait, there’s more than one sheet here... could it be…’ Rose’s thoughts raced as she flipped through the rest.
Her expression shifted dramatically as she absorbed the implications.
“What is this… not just you, but Clair, Michalis, Eleni, Nikolaos, Dimitra, Vasileios, and Vasiliki too? They all went up one level?” she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Normally, such a feat would fill Rose with pride, a boon to her career as their guild advisor.
But now, given the circumstances, concern overshadowed her excitement.
Draco’s level had surged from one to three in a mere four months, while the others had jumped from level one to two.
The previous record holder had taken an entire year to achieve a similar milestone.
“How is this possible?” Rose asked, glancing at Bahamut, who wore an expression of pride that was both comforting and intimidating.
“Don’t ask me; my children are just that talented,” Bahamut replied, her tone laced with affection and confidence.
Rose was left speechless, her mind swirling with implications.
Draco decided it was time to steer the conversation back on track.
“We didn’t just come to report our level up, we would like to upgrade our familia rank. Is that possible today?” he asked, his tone hopeful.
“Ah yes, I can do that. Just give me a few minutes,” Rose replied, her demeanour shifting from astonished to focused.
She stood up hurriedly, clutching the documents tightly, and exited the meeting room to retrieve the necessary forms for the upgrade.
As soon as she left, Michalis burst into laughter, his voice echoing in the now-empty room.
“Did you all see the look on her face?” he exclaimed, wiping a tear of mirth from his eye.
“Yeah, I would be shocked too if I were her,” Eleni chimed in, a grin spreading across her face.
“By the way,” Vasiliki interjected, her curiosity piqued, “after this upgrade, are we allowed to go to Rivira?” she asked.
“Where is that?” Nikolaos asked, his brow furrowed in confusion.
The others turned to Vasiliki, equally intrigued.
“Tsk, didn’t any of you do in-depth research on the middle floors?” Vasiliki questioned, shaking her head.
“Listen closely, Rivira is an adventurer city located on the 18th floor of the dungeon. That’s all I know about it.” She said.
“What? That’s all? Then why were you acting like such a know-it-all just a moment ago?” Michalis teased, earning a scowl from Vasiliki.
“At least I know more than you. That’s enough. So shut up and let me continue,” Vasiliki shot back, her tone playful yet pointed.
“You….” Michalis was about to begin an argument.
“Not here,” Draco interjected, a watchful gaze keeping the atmosphere light.
“Anyway, the 18th floor is a safe haven in the dungeon, where monsters don’t spawn. Occasionally, creatures may emerge from below, but that’s rare,” Vasiliki continued, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
“I’ve read that the floor is filled with luminescent crystals and lush nature. There’s even a lake and a large forest that glows a pale blue, thanks to the crystals reflecting light from the ceiling. There’s a massive crystal that resembles the sun, controlling a day and night cycle. It sounds enchanting!” she explained.
The thought of a romantic outing by the lake with Draco made her heart flutter.
‘Hehehe, a date by the lake with Draco-nii might be fun,’ she mused, her imagination painting vivid pictures.
Just then, Rose returned to the room, clutching several documents.
She scanned the room, her sharp gaze landing on Michalis’s sour expression and Vasiliki’s dreamy expression.
“Did something happen while I was gone?” she asked, arching an eyebrow.
“Nothing of significance,” Draco replied smoothly.
Rose nodded, seemingly not curious about what happened.
She set to work filling out forms, her pen gliding across the paper as she and Bahamut confirmed the details for the familia upgrade.
In Orario, familias existed in various forms — exploration, industrial, medical, and even national types.
The Bahamut familia was primarily classified as an exploration type, dedicated to delving into the dangerous depths of the dungeon to retrieve monster parts and magic stones.
Exploration type familia duties extended beyond dungeon exploration, but the most common was dungeon exploration.
Draco had decided to add a business aspect to their familia at a later time, after uncovering how to freely use his Mystery development ability.
Each familia in Orario was ranked from I to S based on size and achievements, which also determined their tax obligations to the guild.
“With your current achievements, I can elevate the Bahamut familia to rank G. Any higher would raise questions, given your size and presence,” Rose explained, her expression serious.
‘That’s fine, I already knew numbers would hinder us even with our current achievement. Besides why would I want to pay ridiculous taxes when we’re still just only 8 members’ Draco thought.
“That’s fine with us,” Bahamut said, her voice steady.
After settling the fees and filing all necessary documents, the Bahamut familia was officially ranked G, a significant accomplishment for a group of only eight members in just over four months.
With their business concluded, the Bahamut familia exited the guild, they were going to have a little celebration to commemorate their level up, and familia promotion…..
