Chapter 3 – Whispers of demons.

*

The whispers sing of power and pleasure yet all I ever wanted was love.

*

Pain, endless and consuming, was my world now. The stone cold against my back, the iron shackles they started using on me, biting into my wrists, and the burning fire in my veins, this was my reality. I could feel the vampire blood pulsing in my body, clashing with the succubus essence that had already begun to alter me. Each injection had pulled me further from the boy I once was, further from humanity.

I didn’t know what I was becoming, but I feared it. And in that fear, in the shadowy recesses of my mind, she appeared.

It didn’t happen right away, Baloria’s presence was a subtle thing at first. After the first injections of the succubus blood, I felt only the faintest whispers, almost like a fleeting dream. But over time, as the experiments continued and the pain grew unbearable, she began to take shape. At first, I could only hear her voice, a seductive, lilting tone, whispering promises of power, of pleasure, of freedom from the suffering that consumed me.

She spoke of things I didn’t understand, desires foreign to my mind. Her words were an echo, a suggestion, a temptation I tried to ignore. But she was patient, waiting for each moment of weakness, waiting for the right time to push deeper into my thoughts.

“Poor little thing…,” her voice first whispered when the pain became unbearable, and I thought I was on the brink of death. “You’re breaking, aren’t you?”

That was months ago. Back when I still held on to the belief that someone, anyone, might save me. When I still had hope that my suffering was temporary. That was before they strapped me down, held me still as they carved into my skin, testing how much my body could endure. Before I heard them discuss how my body was resisting, how I wasn’t dying like the others.

They called me a “success.” But all I could feel was my body deteriorating with every session.

“Why fight it?” Baloria would purr, her voice slithering into my thoughts every time I lay broken and helpless on that cold slab.

I knew she wasn’t real, not really. She was a hallucination, a product of the succubus blood slowly taking over. Yet her presence felt tangible, more real than the world I was tethered to. I could see her now. I could feel her. And no matter how much I tried to ignore her, she was always there, watching, waiting.

One day, after another round of experiments, they left me strapped to the table for hours. My body was torn open, stitched back together, organs rearranged and tested. They were pushing the limits of my new resilience, opening my chest, probing into my insides, muttering about the resistance of my tissue. I could feel every cut, every poke, every needle, but I couldn’t scream anymore. My voice had left me long ago.

It was during moments like these that Baloria thrived.

“Look at you…” Her voice oozed into my mind, seeping into every crevice of my thoughts. I could see her now, her form becoming clearer, more defined as the days passed. She stood over me, her body lithe, her eyes glowing an eerie crimson. Her skin shimmered like dark silk, and her wings, those bat-like appendages, cast ominous shadows against the stone walls.

“You’re beautiful,” she murmured, her fingers trailing lightly over the open wound in my chest, though I knew it wasn’t real. “Do you know how rare it is for someone to survive this long? You’re a masterpiece.”

I clenched my teeth, refusing to give in to her presence, even as she leaned closer, her breath hot against my ear. “You don’t have to suffer like this,” she whispered, her voice soft, tender even. “I could make it all go away. You just have to accept it. Accept me.”

“No…” The word slipped from my lips, weak and trembling.

She smiled, her fingers brushing over my lips. “Still fighting, I see. That’s fine. I enjoy a challenge.” Her hand traveled lower, tracing the lines of my body. “But how much longer do you think you can last, hm? The blood inside you is changing you. Day by day. And soon, you’ll be complete, you’ll be mine.”

The next few sessions were worse than any I had endured before. The scientists had grown bolder, their curiosity driving them to push the boundaries of my pain tolerance. They no longer hesitated to cut me open while I was conscious, no longer cared if I could feel the magical instruments slicing through my flesh. In fact, they seemed to relish in it.

“Prepare the sedatives,” one of them would mutter, though the injections came too late, often after the first cut had already been made. The familiar sting of the needle would follow, numbing the agony but leaving a dull ache that lingered long after the wound had closed.

They carved into my back one day, experimenting with the growth of new muscles, tendons. I could feel them, feel the changes, feel my body stretch and shift in ways that were unnatural. But I couldn’t move. They had restrained me too tightly.

“Ah…” Baloria’s voice seeped in, even in the midst of it all. “It’s happening, isn’t it? Your body is shifting, making room for what it’s meant to be.”

I shut my eyes, trying to block her out. The pain, the pressure, her voice, it was all too much. But she wouldn’t leave me alone.

“You could stop it, you know,” she whispered. “You could let go, give in to what’s already inside of you. You don’t need to suffer.”

Her lips grazed my neck as she leaned in closer, her voice a seductive hum in my ear. “All you have to do is surrender, darling.”

“Shut up!” I wanted to scream, but it came out as a ragged whisper.

She laughed, a cruel sound that echoed through my skull. “Poor little thing, still so stubborn. But don’t worry… I have all the time in the world.”

…

The days bled into each other, the experiments growing more invasive, more brutal. They injected me with more vampire blood, pushing my body further, watching for the moment when I would break. But I refused. Even as my skin paled, even as my body began to show signs of unnatural beauty, I clung to the remnants of my humanity.

But Baloria was always there, lurking in the shadows of my mind, waiting for my resolve to weaken.

“Why are you so afraid?” she asked one night, her form materializing beside me in my cell. I was curled up on the cold floor, my body aching from the latest round of injections. She knelt beside me, her hand brushing through my long hair. “You’re becoming something beautiful. Something powerful. Why fight it?”

“Because… I’m not a monster,” I muttered, my voice hoarse.

Her eyes gleamed with amusement. “Not yet.”

She stood, her wings stretching out behind her, casting shadows that danced along the walls. “But you will be,” she purred. “Soon, you’ll have no choice. You’ll give in to the power inside you. You’ll embrace what you’re meant to be. And when that happens…” She smiled, a dark, predatory grin. “You’ll be mine.”

I turned away from her, pulling my knees to my chest. “No… I won’t. I’ll never be like you.”

Her laughter rang out, cold and mocking. “We’ll see.”

…

The next round of experiments was the same, except This time, they opened me up, literally. I lay strapped to the table as they cut into my stomach, exploring the changes happening inside of me. My organs had begun to shift, adapting to the demonic blood. My lungs were stronger, my heart beating at an unnatural pace. They studied me like a specimen, their eyes gleaming with fascination as they poked and prodded at my insides.

Baloria stood in the corner of the room, watching with a smirk on her lips. “You’re becoming perfect,” she whispered. “And soon, you’ll see it too.”

But I didn’t want to be perfect. I didn’t want to be this. And yet, as they continued to break me, I began to wonder how much longer I could resist.

How much longer until I became the monster Baloria wanted me to be?

…

Every day that passed, I felt the boundaries of my body and mind cracking under the weight of what they were turning me into. The pain of their experiments was constant, but now there was something worse, this strange sense of alienation from myself. My skin had grown pale, almost translucent, and I could feel my muscles stretching and reforming, as if they were preparing for some grotesque evolution.

One day, they opened my chest, exposing my heart and lungs to the open air, poking at them with cold, metallic instruments. I could see it, the blood pumping through my body, thicker and darker than before. Their voices were a hum in the background, discussing the “remarkable changes” that were happening to my organs.

But all I could think of was Baloria, watching from the corner of the room, her expression one of gleeful satisfaction.

“They’re fascinated by you, you know,” she whispered, her voice cutting through the haze of pain. “You’re becoming something they’ve never seen before. Something they could never even dream of.”

I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to block out the sensation of hands inside me, the feeling of my body being nothing more than a specimen. But it was no use. Baloria’s presence had grown stronger over time. She no longer lingered at the edges of my mind, now, she was a constant, like a shadow that never left.

Her lips brushed against my ear, her voice dripping with honeyed seduction. “Why do you keep fighting? Don’t you see? This power is a gift. You could be free. You could be more than human.”

Her hand traced the outline of my chest, just above the wound where my flesh was exposed. “You’re beautiful, my little one. And soon, you’ll be mine completely.”

“No…” I muttered, my voice weak. “I won’t… give in…”

Baloria’s laugh echoed in my skull. “Oh, you will. You’re already halfway there. Look at yourself. You’re not the boy you once were. You’re stronger, faster, more resilient. You’re becoming everything you’re meant to be.”

She moved closer, her body pressing against mine, her lips ghosting over my skin. “Just surrender. Let me in, and I’ll make all the pain go away.”

I tried to pull away, but the restraints held me down, and her presence was suffocating. My body was on fire from the pain, my mind fogged with exhaustion and agony. It would have been so easy to let go, to slip into the darkness she promised.

But I couldn’t. Not yet.

…

The next round of experiments was just starting. They injected me with something new, something cold and thick. I could feel it coursing through my veins like ice, freezing me from the inside out. My vision blurred, and my body convulsed as the substance began to work its way through me.

“More vampire blood,” one of the scientists said. “Let’s see how his body reacts this time.”

I wanted to scream, to cry out, but my throat was raw, and my mind was slipping into a haze of confusion. The vampire blood clashed with the succubus essence already inside me, sending shockwaves of pain through my system like always.

And in the midst of it all, Baloria was there, her presence stronger than ever.

“I’ve been with you since the beginning, you know,” she said, her voice soft and soothing, though the words sent chills down my spine. “Since the moment they first injected you with my blood. I’ve watched you grow, watched you suffer. And I’ve waited for the moment when you’d finally give in.”

Her fingers caressed my cheek, her eyes gleaming with an otherworldly light. “You’re almost there. Just a little more.”

I shook my head, tears streaming down my face. “No… I won’t…”

But the truth was, I didn’t know how much longer I could resist. My body was changing, my mind unraveling, and every time they tore into me, every time they injected me with more demon blood, I felt a little piece of myself slip away.

The vampire blood was the worst. It burned like fire, but it also brought a strange kind of hunger, a need for something I didn’t understand. I could feel my teeth sharpening, my skin tightening, and my senses growing more acute. I was becoming something else, something monstrous.

And Baloria loved it.

“You’re so close now,” she whispered, her voice a seductive purr. “I can feel it. Soon, you’ll be mine. Soon, you’ll stop fighting.”

She leaned over me, her lips brushing against mine, her breath hot against my skin. “Why don’t you just give in, darling? You’ll feel so much better if you do.”

Her hands roamed over my body, teasing, tempting, trying to pull me into her embrace. “You don’t need to suffer like this. I can make it all go away. All you have to do is let go.”

I wanted to. God, I wanted to. The pain was unbearable, the agony too much to endure. But something inside me still clung to the last shred of resistance, the last piece of humanity I had left.

“I… won’t…” I whispered, though my voice was barely audible.

Baloria’s smile faltered for a moment, but then she laughed, a low, throaty sound that sent shivers down my spine. “Oh, but you will. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But you will.”

She kissed me then, her lips soft and cold, and I felt something inside me shift. A part of me wanted to give in, to let her take control, to let the darkness consume me. But another part of me, small and fragile, still held on, refusing to let go. Like a small kindling of fire in a snowstorm, I held on to it.

The experiments continued, each one more brutal than the last. They cut me open again and again, probing deeper into my body, trying to understand the changes happening inside me. My organs were no longer human, and neither was I. I could feel it in the way my body moved, in the way my senses had sharpened.

But the worst part was Baloria. She was always there, always waiting, always whispering in my ear. Her presence was suffocating, and no matter how hard I tried to block her out, she always found a way in.

“You’re mine,” she would say, her voice a seductive purr. “You’ve always been mine. You just don’t realize it yet.”

And maybe she was right. Maybe I was already lost. But I refused to give in. Not yet. Not while there was still a part of me that remembered what it was like to be human.

The transformation was slow, but it was happening. My body was changing, becoming something otherworldly. My senses were sharper, my strength greater, and my appearance… My hair had grown darker and longer, my skin pale and flawless, my eyes glowing with an unnatural light.

But I wasn’t hers. Not yet.

And as long as I could hold on to that, as long as I could resist her, there was still hope.

Right…
