Accepting the situation
"Cough... Cough..."
Hello... Haha... Haha...
Hi everyone!
It might sound a bit pathetic to bring this up right after making my grand decision to stand up and fight, and please don't laugh, but...
I...
Well, I got sick...
................
Well, what on earth did you expect?!
Turns out that lack of sleep, severe anxiety, and accumulated stress are a pretty harmful combination for a newborn's health.
I KNOW I MADE A MISTAKE, SO DON'T RUB IT IN MY FACE!!
Anyway, getting sick wasn't the only thing that changed during this time. To my dear father's misfortune, the book's original plot moved forward exactly as I remembered: after a series of manipulations and issues, the story now left him divorced, broke, and without custody of his children. How tragic!
Goodbye, Dad!
We couldn't build a very deep bond, and truth be told, I never fully forgave you for taking away that damn toy truck... but I'm still going to miss you!
Well, not everything is negative though. I managed to notice a fairly significant change in Mom (possessed): she now seems to take way more interest in me than I expected.
And if I think about it, it's kind of strange, isn't it?
I mean, I was way too busy trying not to die, and then this fever hit me like a train, so... at what point did we get so close?
Anyway, leaving that unsolved mystery aside, this fever actually had a silver lining.
It was as if it helped reset my mind and body. In fact, thinking about it clearly, this is the very first time I've gotten sick since I was born into this world, so it's a cause for celebration! (Virtual applause)
Thanks to this shift in perspective, I was able to analyze my situation with a cool head and realized that, even though I'm stuck alone with my mother (possessed), she isn't actually an immediate threat if I break it down logically.
I mean... yeah.
She's the one who brutally murders me in the original story, but that was ONLY because the original owner of this body got a girlfriend!
And if I remember correctly, up until that exact moment in the story, the protagonist never even realized his mother had been possessed the whole time. Therefore, my dear Watson, this means the specter acted as normally as possible in front of everyone else. So the only thing I need to do to dodge that obvious death flag is...
NEVER GET A GIRLFRIEND!!
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!
Sigh, it leaves me with only two choices in life:
OPTION 1: Get a girlfriend (Die a gruesome death).
OPTION 2: Stay single forever, acting as if I never notice Mom's creepy behavior (Survive).
I think the choice is painfully obvious.
Goodbye to my romantic life, even though I never got to experience it anyway!
Still, this isn't all bad. At least it confirms there's no such thing as a "causal correction force" in this world forcing events to happen word for word. And if we look closely, I'm actually a lot like my mother (possessed).
I mean, we are both technically impostors invading someone else's body just to live. The only difference is she can hop to other bodies at will, whereas I only have this one life... and I plan to live it as best as I can.
