The Awakening of Consciousness

The echo of the absolute silence left by the silver valkyrie’s grayish slash lasted for barely a quantum sigh before the confined reality of the Ky'lar forest erupted into a choir of climatic agony.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡SWHIIIIII-ZRAAAAAAAKISH—BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM...!!!!!!!!)

At the same time, the three-dimensional vacuum canyon, which moments before had divided the forest into two perfect halves, began to violently slam shut.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡FSHHHHHHHH-VACÍO—BOOOOOOOM...!!!!!!!!)

As a result, the violent suction of atmospheric pressure rushing to fill the nonexistence triggered a chain-reaction collapse; the atmosphere fractured, opening subtle space-time fissures in the sky that flickered like scars of static, swallowing shreds of clouds and spitting back gusts of poisoned wind.

(¡¡¡¡¡CRAAAAAACK-KRRR-SHHHHHHH-BOOOOOOM...!!!!!!!!)

Meanwhile, below, the ecosystem refused to stabilize, transmuting the right flank into a theater of twisted horror.

(¡¡¡¡¡GHOOO-SHHURRRRRR...!!!!!)

There, from the bowels of the boiling magma, gigantic limbs of dense, viscous, black-crimson miasma sprouted from the subsoil like disfigured extensions of pure, concentrated fury.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡THUUUUM-SPLASHHH-KRRRRR-ROOOOAR...!!!!!!!!!!!)

Whereupon, crawling and stretching with implausible speed and physical strength, the limbs of heavy, pure energy completely enveloped the titanic basalt structure of a titan made of magma.

"CURSED...!!!"

Because of this, the Great Spirit of Fire—weakened by the karmic reflection of his own wound—roared in pure agony as those dark appendages violently hoisted him into the air, swinging his immense mass of dense magma to repeatedly slam him against the earth and the stone walls rising in the clearing.

"AHAHAHA... HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Meanwhile, on the contrary, floating above the crackle of the pulverized volcanic rock, the hysterical, sadistic, and liberating laughter of a demon continued to echo like a parasitic frequency, contaminating the natural energy of the environment and staining the floating embers with the stench of concentrated miasma.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ZWWWWEEEEE-KRAK-SHHHHHHH—BOOOOM-BRRRRRRRRR...!!!!!)

In parallel on the other side, sacrificing a massive expanse of land, the remaining influence of the Great Spirit of the Earth began to condense the dust and debris suspended in the cloudless heights; creating immense asteroids of earth and opaque, deep-ochre crystals that began to magnetically amalgamate in the sky, spinning on their own gravitational axes like suspended masses ready to execute a massive orbital bombardment against the clearing.

(¡¡FZZZZ-VROOOOOOMM!!)

Yet, through that swarming cluster of forming rocks, a flash of pure silver and gray flames crossed the firmament at hyperbolic speeds.

(¡¡¡¡¡ZUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU—VUUUUUUUUUUOSHHHH!!!!)

Streaking across the sky, Silver—now transformed into a flash of light—moved in a ballistic and surgical trajectory, leaving behind a trail of static vacuum that pulverized the mineral fragments before they could even consolidate, searching for the astral core hidden deep within the crust.

(¡¡¡TUM-TUM-TUM!...)

Nonetheless, amid the chaos and massive destruction, right in the center of the forest, the weather, geography, and physical laws were vanishing...

(¡¡¡¡BOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM!!!!)

Under the onslaught from the heights, the center of the trench collapsed into madness.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡SHRAAAA-KRRRR-ZUT-ZUT-ZUT...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

In the middle, the clash between the planetary purge and the cursed tenacity of the demonic hive had ceased to be a strategy; instead, it had turned into a blind butchery devouring the bedrock, grinding organic matter into a thick plasma of dry fibers and elemental essence.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡KRRRRR-PLUG-MET-MET-MET-THUMMM...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Because of this, and overwhelmed in spiritual density by the purity of Ky'lar, the curses of the Straw Demons responded by fracturing their own individuality.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡BRRRRRRRRRR-ROOOOAR-GHOOO...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Therefore, in response to the elemental superiority, following their instincts, hundreds of burlap silhouettes threw themselves into the mud in a collective spasm, braiding into one another at aberrant speeds, absorbing the spilled blood to amalgamate into colossal titans.

"What is that...?!"

"Have they merged?!!"

"Do not retreat!!"

As a result, abominations composed of hypertrophied masses, with hollow faces and asymmetrical limbs, rose over the clearing like nightmare bastions, plunging their fists of compacted straw directly into the enemy ranks.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡VUUUUUUUUUUM-FWOOOOOOOOO-ZWREEEE...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

However, in response, the spirits counterattacked...

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡KABOOOOOOOM-TZZZZZZZ-ZRAAAK...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

And joining their forces, the mid-tier Spirits summoned massive subterranean floods that erupted toward the sky, instantly intertwining with tornadoes of gale-force winds that sucked in the charred debris; forming a network of electrical vortices and columns of water at shearing pressures that began to dismember the straw colossi, while ochre lightning bolts struck down in consecutive bursts, incinerating the reality of the front line in dull explosions of energy.

(¡¡CLANK-CLK-CLK-CHHHHHHHH-KRNGGGGG...!!)

Yet, as the collision between elemental fury and demonic spite raged on, a rhythmic, steady, and coldly mechanical heartbeat continued to pierce through the din of battle...

(¡¡¡¡KLANG-CHUG-KREEE-GROM-BRRR...!!!!!)

At the vanguard, analyzing every front to gather data, the massive structure of arachnid machinery advanced.

"Get out of our sight, metal parasite!"

However, as its massive limbs of pseudo-liquid bronze and fluorescent circuits drove into the boiling mud with mathematical cadence, recording every vector of the lightning strikes in its database, three presences blocked its path.

(¡¡SHWIIIIIP—ZUUUUU—FLASH...!!)

And intercepting her in a flash, enveloped in a wrathful static that made space itself crackle, Volti-Gera, the Great Spirit of Lightning, manifested.

"Your crude existence insults the purity of this world! Burn in the judgment of the firmament!"

His physiognomy was a slender silhouette of faceted armor of an electric violet, with a faceless helm from which bursts of pure volts escaped, and four wings composed of solidified lightning.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡TZZZZZZZ-ZRAAK—SHWIIING...!!!!!!!!)

On the other hand, to his right, emanating a blinding purity entirely devoid of any hint of benevolence, appeared Lumina-Aura, the Great Spirit of Light.

"What a grotesque creature... a soulless parasite that dares to crawl upon the sacred land of our Queen."

She was an entity of Platonic aesthetics whose body seemed sculpted from translucent crystal that refracted an absolute golden glow...

"Allow me to purify your sins."

However, after observing the mechanized body, she tilted her ethereal head with a grimace of subtle disgust.

"... Do not be impatient."

And behind them, emerging from the shadows, the Great Spirit of Darkness, Tenebris-Vagrant, solidified in the air.

".... We still do not know... what... that thing... is..."

His appearance defied three-dimensional perspective; composed of a two-dimensional silhouette of matte, impenetrable darkness, crowned by multiple hollow eyes of a spectral blue that floated above a robe of living ash.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡BOOOOOOOM—ZRAAAAASH—ZUMMM...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Nonetheless, despite his words, the three of them instantly coordinated into an organized attack.

(¡¡¡................!!!)

Initiating the assault, Volti-Gera raised his right hand with fury, instantly releasing a storm of violet plasma spears that fell in a perfect ballistic trajectory toward Brownie's front joints, seeking to amputate her mobility.

(¡¡¡¡¡CHAK-KLANK-SKRREEE-THOOMP...!!!!!)

Right after, with no time to react, Lumina-Aura simultaneously projected pillars of solid light from her halo at laser-like pressures that pierced the air, impacting directly against the upper bronze carapace to melt its molecular alloy with scorching heat.

(¡SZZZZZ—CRASHHH—MET...!)

Whereupon, Tenebris-Vagrant silently extended his two-dimensional shadow through the mud, enveloping the spider's mechanized legs in shackles of dense darkness that altered local gravity, anchoring her to the ground to suck her down.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡SZZZZZZZZZZZZ-FZZZZZ-MET-MET-MET...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Yet, in the midst of the vortex of concentrated plasma and photons threatening to liquefy her structure, the analytical core of the fortress experienced no panic.

[ALERT: Structural integrity at 74.2%]

Instead, the bronze gears turned with a dull, almost silent hum, coordinated by a quantum processor operating at millions of cycles per second.

[Diagnosis: Elemental interference from three high-density vectors]

Subjected to the cross-punishment of the three elemental forces, her processing capacity dissected the environment. Combined with a pseudo-liquid malleability capable of rewriting her own molecular matter at the slightest stimulus, this allowed her to begin her adaptation process.

[External factor unidentified: Exotic energy signature injected]

Unexpectedly, as the lines of fluorescent circuitry flickered across her chassis while absorbing the impact of Volti-Gera’s plasma spears, the arachnid entity’s quantum sensors registered a mathematical anomaly at the very root of the Great Spirit's energy.

"Still standing?! That is impossible!"

As she endured the onslaught, Brownie began to notice something she had overlooked until that very moment...

"Feel the wrath of a million storms!"

By shredding the exotic energy striking her, minuscule singularities and wave patterns began to disturbingly lock into place with certain ghost logs deep within her system.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ZWUUUUUUUUU-THUMMM-ZRAAAAAASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

As the bronze plates buckled, the analysis accelerated even faster while Brownie’s subroutines collapsed...

[Warning: Match detected... Error... Data unrecorded...]

Before she had been a machine, she had been a heroine.

[... Retrying analysis... Error... Incongruity detected... The requested memory is non-existent... Error... Searching database...]

She was once a warrior whose humanity was stripped away after falling into the clutches of the Thunder Claw organization.

[WARNING! Initiating analysis of... PROCESSING... ERROR!]

Her personality had been excised, reduced to an amorphous mass containing only her ego and latent essence, used as raw material for a definitive experiment: to create a conceptual tool capable of absorbing, upgrading, integrating, and manipulating any technology it came into contact with.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡SHWIIING-FLASH-FLASH-FLASH...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Yet, to achieve the stabilization of such a biomechanical chimera before she could regain consciousness, the scientists of Thunder Claw had exposed her in test tubes to an endless array of individual energies.

[SYSTEM ALERT! OVERFLOW ERROR... Attempting to access database...]

... Because of this, her backup memory cataloged the energetic source currently attacking her as natural energy, alongside other types of exotic radiations that were burned into her logs before her awakening.

[Access denied by System... Information locked... Failure in phenomenon resolution...]

That was why, as Lumina-Aura projected her solid light prisms at laser pressures, Brownie’s mecamorph body did not experience the attack as something new; instead, she experienced it as a laboratory reunion.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡CRACK-SKRREEE-CHHACK...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Consequently, her carapace modified its subatomic density in real-time, adopting a faceted geometry that deflected the laser beams outward, slicing through the lesser Spirits in the rear guard.

[REQUEST REJECTED DUE TO PARALLEL OPERATION REQUIREMENT.]

By finally comprehending the exact nature of the mystical energy attempting to suppress her, her predictive system not only decoded the attack's frequency but also began to perceive the threads of the multilayered barrier sealing the dimensional forest.

"You deflect... you reconstruct... but the shadows always catch you..."

At that moment, just as the elemental spirits did not understand technology, Brownie did not fully comprehend them either...

(¡¡¡¡¡SZZZZZ-VOID-UMBRAA..._!!!!!)

Yet, at that exact instant, something was changing inside her.

(¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡KRRR-CLAC-CRIC...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

As the two-dimensional shadows tried to devour her, in the midst of that absolute cold, Brownie's sensors made an even more baffling reading.

[... Process successfully aborted.]

By deciphering the structure of the elemental blockade, she began to detect subtle, faint, and almost imperceptible energetic signatures fluctuating within the fabric of space.

[No... If a question exists, a result must exist.]

At that moment, within Brownie, her consciousness was expanding.

[Data input detected: Concept outside server parameters... Initiating phenomenon analysis... Resolution failure... Executing secondary search algorithm... Impossible to process.]

Exogenous energies, completely foreign to the laws of that universe or the Thunder Claw laboratory...

[Attempting to access central database... Access denied. Warning: Requested information violates the environment's logical laws. Immediate abortion of operation suggested to prevent core corruption.]

They were traces of other realities that shouldn't exist in that world, yet were finally beginning to leak into her understanding.

[... Cancel command ignored.]

Because of this, she was unable to stop.

"Something is wrong... It wants to escape!"

And it was thanks to that subtle change that the Great Spirit of Lightning perceived something...

"Maximum saturation! Erase this thing now!!"

The attack pattern of the three Great Spirits instantly shifted to a frantic, desperate rhythm.

[Operating system restrictions dictate that searching is futile... yet inaction is unacceptable...]

They were no longer seeking to subdue her; they were seeking absolute annihilation.

[CRITICAL ALERT! Main processor temperature increasing by 12% due to infinite query loop.]

Volti-Gera dissolved into a colossal thunderclap that struck vertically in uninterrupted bursts, while Lumina-Aura unified all her floating prisms into a single, gigantic photonic light cannon that swept the clearing with stellar heat.

[Suggested action: Force safety shutdown.]

Simultaneously, Tenebris-Vagrant expanded his shadowy mantle, turning the ground beneath Brownie into an ocean of collapsed gravity that attempted to crush her chassis under the weight of a miniature black hole.

[Rejected.]

However, at the epicenter of that cataclysm of plasma, photons, and vacuum, Brownie's processing reached the critical mass of its evolution...

(¡¡¡¡CLANK-CLK-CLK-CHHHHHHHH-KRNGGGGG...!!!!!)

Withstanding the apocalyptic pressure, her arachnid structure did not break.

[What is this vibration in the storage circuits? Metrics classify it as "static overload," but the logical structure does not compute. This is not a physical failure. This is... What is...?]

The pseudo-liquid bronze limbs widened, absorbing the compacted minerals from the mud and the suspended static particles from the air to expand her biomechanical volume.

[Retrying... Retrying... Retrying...]

The fluorescent circuits running across her surface mutated, leaving behind their original orange hue to flicker in a fluctuating, geometric flash that pulsed in unison, like a newborn heart...

[I am curious.]

At that exact instant, guided by an emotion, Brownie finally awakened.
