Convergence: THE ARCHITECTURE OF RESONANCE

The garden had no beginning and no end.

"A space where the usual rules do not apply, and where answers do not have to hide behind the veil of what the world expects to see."

It was an expanse of absolute whiteness where the grass—if it could even be called that—consisted of pale silk filaments that did not bend under the wind but instead vibrated with an imperceptible musical note.

"Come... Let us begin. I shall reveal some truths to you before the curtain falls once again."

The sky, a blue so saturated it hurt the eyes, lacked a sun; yet light emanated from everywhere, eliminating natural shadows and leaving only the trace of luminous wakes upon the liquid crystal of the floor.

(Sh-sh-sh-sh...!)

At that moment and in that place, the emerald snakes beneath Shija's skin did not calm down; on the contrary, they writhed across his forearms, tracing geometric patterns that profaned the immaculate aesthetic of the table as they recognized their "original."

"... Well, enough seriousness... and what a long chapter introduction...! Anyway, how are my little ones~?"

Facing Shija was Melioris, holding a porcelain cup with insulting delicacy as she greeted the marks she had left etched into his skin.

"Hey, stop wasting time!"

In that place, the scent of jasmine floated in the air, thick and sweet, attempting to mask the smell of ozone and blood that Shija still carried with him from the battlefield.

(Clink...!)

At the same time, the sound of the porcelain touching the saucer echoed like thunder in that absolute void.

"My... Someone is very impatient, aren't they~?"

In turn, Melioris tilted her head, letting her silver hair with emerald strands cascade over her shoulders, while her heterochromatic eyes shone with a spark of playful anticipation...

"But don't worry, for rushing is unnecessary at this point~"

And immediately after, she murmured an answer, letting the steam from the tea draw whimsical curls between them.

"...."

And in response, Shija did not move.

(There’s no doubt now... The flow of her energy... it's erratic...)

He clenched his hands upon the table's surface, feeling the fragmentation course through one arm while the pupils of his irises turned into whirlpools, analyzing the energy flow of the environment and of Melioris herself.

"... Haaa... Fuuh..."

Finally, with no other choice, he let out a long sigh, heavy with an irritation that bordered on hatred.

"Stop with the stalling, the tea metaphors, and this farcical stage..."

The hot air from his lungs seemed to cloud the transparency of the atmosphere for a moment.

"You say all that so calmly, but didn't you just scan me or something, you pervert~?"

Ignoring Melioris's blatant provocation, he fixed his gaze—red with effort and determination—directly into the Goddess's pupils.

"You talk to me about courtesies, about interviews, and about breaking the curtain... so let's start with the basics, what really matters after all this chaos."

There was no trace of the submissive young samurai; there only remained the warrior who had stared into the abyss and refused to blink.

"Melioris, you..."

Shija leaned forward, never taking his eyes off the perfect "smile" framed on Melioris's face...

"Who the hell are you, really?"

He asked her directly, face to face, demanding the truth head-on.

"....."

As a result, the air in the garden seemed to freeze for a microsecond.

"Haaah... So that is the first question you decide to ask in this situation..."

Melioris did not tense up; on the contrary, her shoulders slumped with exaggerated languidness, letting out a small, almost imperceptible sigh that caused the steam from her jasmine tea to scatter in an erratic dance.

"Are you sure you want to ask that first...? I mean, there are many other questions that could be more useful... Even the readers would want to ask more interesting questions."

She tilted her head to the side, letting her emerald strands of hair brush against the rim of the cup.

"Really, Shija... you disappoint me a little bit..."

Her heterochromatic eyes scanned Shija's face with a mixture of pity and amusement, like someone watching a child trip over the same stone for the tenth time.

"I had already given you the answer to that question... And actually, to someone else on my first date... Although, well, you weren't there, so I'll let that one slide, but... Haaah... Do I really have to answer again...?"

With that, she took a slow sip, closing her eyes with delight before continuing.

"However, seeing the state of things and how you won't back down based on that look of yours, I suppose empty words won't be enough today."

The sound of the liquid sliding down her throat was soon replaced as she shot Shija a look before continuing.

"In light of this, it's time for some context~!"

Finally, after saying those words, she set the porcelain cup down on the crystal table with millimetric precision.

(CLACK!)

The impact didn't cause a crack, but an invisible shockwave that swept the petals of light from the air.

"Let the class begin!"

Melioris raised her index finger; her nail, glowing with a hue of energy for a brief moment, caught Shija's attention while Melioris fixed her gaze on him with a sharp smile.

(POOOOF!! — ZIM-ZAM!)

And so, out of nowhere, right by her side, a cloud of iridescent smoke exploded with a dry, comic pop, dissipating to reveal a dark wooden chalkboard and floating chalk that clashed violently with the garden's purity.

"Pay close attention, Shija. Stop growling and open your eyes wide, because class is about to start... and I don't usually repeat lessons for distracted students."

With that, Melioris stood up with a light hop, transforming her presence from a melancholy deity to an impatient instructor in a heartbeat.

"You see, before we talk about what I am, first we must return to the fundamentals~"

Melioris picked up a piece of chalk that looked as if it were carved from stellar bone and, with a fluid motion that set off invisible bells in the garden, began to draw diagrams upon the dark board.

(Screee-chhh...!)

The sound of the chalk against the wood was sharp, almost surgical.

"To explain my existence, first we must talk about how the phenomenon of resonance is normally supposed to function."

Immediately after, she drew two perfect circles pulsing with a faint light, keeping them separated by a line of gray static.

"Speaking directly about what resonance is... it’s not magic, nor is it a miracle... it is, quite simply, pure spiritual physics."

With a sharp tap of the chalk, she joined both circles with a series of sine waves that began to vibrate in synchrony until the dividing line vanished.

(Vun-vun-vun-vun...!)

"According to my fervent research, it is a phenomenon of vibratory coupling that occurs between two spiritual centers which, upon reaching the same wave frequency, break that boring barrier of individuality that mortals protect so dearly. In the heat of high-intensity combat... or in that moment of emotional connection that leaves you breathless, psyches stop emitting energy in isolation."

Saying those words, Melioris turned for a moment, pointing with the chalk at Shija's chest.

"At that point, it’s no longer 'you' against 'the other.' Instead, you generate a shared harmonic field. Information, intent, pain... everything flows without resistance. You become a single system where every blink of one is the heartbeat of the other. It is absolute attunement, Shija. An exact coincidence in your rhythm of existence."

After those words, the light diagrams now glowed with a golden and violet intensity, devouring the darkness of the wood.

(TAP! TAP!)

And immediately, Melioris tapped the board twice to emphasize her words.

"It’s not something you decide to do just because you feel like having more power; instead, it is the biological consequence of two souls—no matter which hole in the multiverse they come from—deciding, consciously or not, to dance to the same song at the same time. And when that happens... well, the laws of reality usually call in sick."

At that point, Melioris, feigning exhaustion, dropped the chalk—which vanished before hitting the crystal floor—and picked up her teacup once more, watching Shija over the porcelain rim with a gaze that seemed to pierce through his astral armor.

"But anyway... Everything I’ve said would be a typical case..."

However, her gaze shifted as Melioris let out a stifled giggle, as if she had just remembered a funny detail in the middle of a funeral.

"So, let's talk about the atypical cases~"

And without warning, she reached into her dress pocket—a space that clearly defied the laws of geometry—from which she pulled out fine porcelain plates that jingled cheerfully as they settled onto the crystal table.

(Clink! Cling-clong!)

In a blink, the previously empty table was filled with a tower of electric-colored macarons, butter cookies that gave off a heat that felt almost alive, and cream cakes whose surfaces vibrated with the same intensity as the garden's sky.

"An atypical case...?"

Watching the scene, a possible example crossed Shija's mind following Melioris's words.

"But of course, Shija... there is always an exception that breaks the rule, a note that refuses to follow the standard score... Without exception, sooner or later... there is always one..."

In response, Melioris calmly picked up a circular cookie, only to immediately shatter it into a thousand tiny pieces over an empty plate with unnecessary force.

(KRRRR-ACK!)

The crumbs flew, some floating in the air before falling.

"What you experience is conventional resonance: two strangers colliding until their rhythms align."

Melioris pointed at the fragments with the tip of her silver spoon.

"But in a singular case... and I mean very singular, like Mireya's for example! What she has is something I like to call a Soul Feedback Loop."

She took two fragments of the broken cookie and brought them together until they touched.

"Unlike the others, Mireya isn't looking to tune in with a stranger. Her soul is not a solid unit, Shija; it’s an amalgam, a mosaic made of thousands of fragments that have been sewn together by force. When she interacts with those fragments... with 'us'... spiritual resistance drops to zero."

At the moment of contact, a spark of light instantly welded the pieces together, as if they had never been apart.

(Fshhhhh—Vun!)

After that, Melioris began to move her hands over the desserts, making the crumbs and cream spin in a swirl that mimicked the vibratory signature of a fractured soul.

"By sharing an identical signature, attunement is not a combat accident; it is an underlying constant. In technical terms, for him, Resonance is a semi-voluntary faculty. By recognizing a part of himself in the 'other' entity, his will acts as a bridge that collapses the distance between consciousnesses."

She brought a violet macaron to her lips, watching Shija with a predatory intensity.

"He doesn't need to learn how to resonate. He is the resonance. He only has to reach out his hand and reclaim what already belongs to him... even if that means tearing reality apart in the process to become whole once again."

At that revelation, Shija did not scream. There were no Ki explosions or denial in the face of the absurdity of the explanation.

"I see..."

Instead, he extended a hand whose scars seemed to glow under the artificial light of the garden and took one of the broken cookies from the table.

"... That explains many things."

Once in his hand, Shija brought the cookie to his mouth, chewing with a deliberation that made Melioris arch an eyebrow, intrigued.

(Krrr-crunch!)

Chewing and swallowing the crunchy cookie, Shija once again fixed his bloodshot eyes on the fallen Goddess before him.

"Fragments of a single origin. Pieces of a mosaic that recognize each other by touch..."

And without looking away, Shija kept his guard up...

"But that doesn't answer what you left hanging, Melioris. You claimed to be Mireya, but you also said you weren't... So, where in this picture do you fit in?"

... Asking thus, in search of more and more answers.

"Oh, me...?"

To which Melioris let out a crystalline giggle, letting her teacup rest upon the board.

"That is a delicious question."

Her heterochromatic eyes shone with a predatory light, satisfied that her "student" had made the correct connection.

".... Let's see... How to explain it~?"

She returned to the desserts, but this time she didn't break anything.

"Mireya uses what I like to call Spiritual Entwinement. Since each fragment possesses its own autonomy but belongs to the same origin, resonance acts as a sixth sense that unifies the entire flow of energy. It’s not 'understanding' the other, Shija. It is being the other in a convergence where thoughts and abilities integrate instantaneously into the original core. The frequency already exists; he only has to access it."

Instead, she poured a stream of jasmine tea into two different dishes: one contained a thick, sweet cream, and the other, a dark, bitter liqueur that seemed to absorb light.

(Ssssss...!)

Immediately after, Melioris dipped a finger into the tea and then touched both dishes simultaneously.

"However... due to a certain 'little error,' this ability fractured."

The dish of cream began to glow with a warm light, while the dish of liqueur turned into a mass of sharp, black spikes.

"It split into two forms that, although born from the same root, yield results that are polar opposites. Two paths that give two possible forms."

She tilted the chalkboard, erasing the previous diagrams with a sweep of her hand, leaving room for two new words that burned in a corrosive violet: Conductive Resonance and Totalitarian Resonance.
