The Symphony of Dissonance and the Judgment of the Soul

The air in Flambell City ceased to flow. It became heavy, erratic, as if the atmosphere itself were being sucked into a hungry vortex.

(VUUUUUM—VUUUUUM!)

Only the rhythmic sound of collapsing pressure resonated throughout the entire area.

"You know, Shija... it's curious."

At that moment, Melioris began to move her hands with a gelid delicacy; her fingers traced fluid trajectories in the air, intertwining the purplish flames of her right with the celestial voltage of her left.

"Cursed energy is like a Basso Continuo; a visceral, dark, and persistent pulse that sustains the weight of human pain. It is a flame that does not know when to stop."

There was no effort on her face, only an absolute concentration that caused the space around her to crack.

"Every living being emits a note, a constant hum we call Spiritual Energy. It is the base melody, the neutral tone that sustains the score of reality. But, what happens when that melody twists?"

The violet and the blue did not mix; they collided, generating a flash of black and neon-purple light that erased the shadows from the ground.

"When pain and resentment corrupt it until it loses its purity... this is born."

The hum became a dull roar that devoured the sound of the wind and the distant screams.

"Normally, spirit and curse repel each other. They are the origin and its shadow trying to occupy the same space on the staff. It is a chaotic noise that no one can conduct... But under my baton, dissonance becomes art."

As she uttered those words, Shija thought he saw for an instant Melioris's eyes glow faintly like an aurora. Despite the pressure, he was still able to hear every word she uttered while feeling the world shrink around him.

"I am going to show you what happens when life collides head-on with its own corruption. Pay attention~"

The elegance with which Melioris conducted that void was the most terrifying part: a refined dance that preceded total annihilation. It wasn't just energy that Shija saw; it was a blot of absolute "nothingness" advancing toward him, a distortion that consumed dust and debris before even touching them.

"Experimental Technique: Existential Amalgam."

Thus, Melioris intertwined her fingers in a complex and elegant hand seal, joining the index and middle fingers of both hands while the rest closed in a grip of absolute precision; in that instant, the world seemed to hold its breath.

(S-SHHHHHHHH—BOOM!!!)

Until the silence was shattered by the sound of the space-time lament as it tore apart.

"Let's go~♪"

As she extended her arms, the collision between the Haunted Hearth Flame and the Ambivalent Voltage reached its critical point, firing a mass of energy that should not exist in the natural order. What Melioris had unleashed was a collision-based annihilation technique. By forcing two diametrically opposed natures of power to occupy the same space at the same time, the resulting matter was not a sum, but an absolute subtraction.

(VUUU-SHHHHRRRRMMMM!)

This collision generated neither fire nor electricity, but a point of non-existence. The technique did not strike with physical force; it simply erased the matter it encountered in its path. Every solid object—the volcanic stone, the steel debris, and the air itself—vanished instantaneously at a molecular level.

To Shija, what was coming toward him was a systematic erasure of existence. Faced with a technique of such magnitude, any warrior with a survival instinct would have chosen evasion. However, with Boudica's wounded body at his feet, fleeing was not a viable alternative. He faced it head-on.

(You are right... It is curious...)

At the instant the sphere of absolute vacuum brushed the periphery of his guard, Shija felt the desperation of the most fundamental death. It was the terror of absolute nothingness, the gelid sensation that his history and his spirit were about to be ripped from the fabric of the universe.

(Dub-dum... dub-dum...)

That very proximity to the end acted as a catalyst. Instead of paralyzing him, extreme desperation compressed his consciousness to a point of supernatural clarity.

(¡¡K-THUM!! ¡¡K-THUM!!)

His concentration amplified to a degree he had never felt before. The beats of his heart and the vibrations of air molecules being disintegrated became clear. In that state of hyper-focus born of agony, Shija stopped seeing the attack as an unstoppable force and began to perceive it for what it truly was: a structure of energy that existed within a moment he could still reclaim.

Within Shija's mind, time fragmented. The roar of the vacuum vanished, replaced by a white silence and the deafening sound of his own heart, which burned in his chest like a red-hot ember.

(The fear is gone. The fatigue is gone.)

He stood on the precarious balance between life and death.

(So this is... what it means to exist. It is not about resisting the storm; it is about becoming the pulse that pierces through it.)

In that limbo, his entire life flashed before his eyes—a detailed tapestry of failures and that oath that kept him standing.

(If this is my end, I will turn it into my prelude.)

His chest burned from the ignition of his own will.

(TING!)

(ZWUUUUUUUUUUUUU—!!)

Time began to regain its natural flow, but for Shija, the world continued to move at a snail's pace. In that state of extreme cognitive acceleration, he forced his body to move beyond any biological limit.

(TRRR-CHAK! KRR-AKT!)

His muscles and tendons began to tear, his skeleton creaked, and his blood reached a boiling point. To prevent his body from crumbling away like ash, Shija flooded every fiber of his being with Ki, stimulating his cells to hold together by pure will.

(K-SHHHH!!!)

Ignoring the internal destruction, he fixed his gaze on the sphere of annihilation. He analyzed the flow, dissecting the union between the purple flame and the celestial lightning.

(But... it is still not... perfect...)

And then, he found it. Due to the innate inefficiency that Melioris still carried when channeling such polar opposite energies, the stitching point where the curse and the spirit met was flawed.

(IT IS ALL OR NOTHING!!)

(VVVVVRRRRRR!)

There was a microscopic fluctuation at the core of the paradox...

(SHHHINNGG!)

Shija raised his sword with a movement that seemed to drag the weight of his own soul. The steel roared with a frequency that made the ears of those present bleed. He poured every drop of his Ki and every fiber of his vital essence into the edge until the sword ceased to be metal and became pure judgment.

(¡¡!!)

With his gaze fixed on the invisible crack, Shija struck.

(TSUN!)

It was a movement that belonged to neither time nor space. The cut struck exactly at the dissonance, causing the world to stop for a microsecond.

(ZWUUUUUUU-BOOM!)

Finally, the Existential Amalgam vibrated; its center contracted violently as it lost its technical axis, and suddenly, reality itself seemed to fold inward, generating an implosion of blinding light that devoured the surroundings...
