Who Is The Girl
After LiMei's drama is over she turns off the television, tomorrow maybe Du Chang can bring me some of my mangas, there is a stack on my nightstand at my apartment. She goes into the bathroom to shower, while the water is running down her body she touches the tattoo on her hip. Why did they need to mark her body like this, a constant reminder of her connection to Kuang Fu's organization. When she finishes her shower she applies more vanishing cream, it looks as though the cream is working as she touches her neck while looking in the mirror.
LiMei flops onto the bed looking at her phone.
She has been checking the internet, there is no news about the man she didn't kill that day two weeks ago in Bashu City. Did they send Kuang Bo or Scorpion to finish the job? There are no news reports about his death, since he was prominent in Bashu City you would think they would report it. LiMei leans back on her pillow remembering her escape.
That assignment was the final straw, she needed to escape from her pathetic life. The target was a nice looking man in a tailored suit, about thirty, he was leaning on the railing on the dock speaking to a man dressed in work clothes when a pregnant woman walked up to him. He hugged her gently, then patted her stomach, smiling he took her hand. They were smiling at each other, then walked away looking at her stomach.
LiMei was positioned on a roof not far away she had him in her scope, her finger on the trigger when the woman walked to him embracing him. She knew Kuang Fu wouldn't forgive her for blowing a job a second time but she couldn't steal the life from this man. She pictured the woman leaning over his dead body sobbing. So LiMei made a decision, she dismantled her sniper rifle breaking it down into pieces, placed it into its case into her backpack.
Throwing the backpack over her shoulder, she then walks through the roof's door to the stairs that descend into a warehouse full of shipping crates and containers. I'm done. The targets she had up until recently were members of the Underworld, competitors of the Organization, drug dealers, murderers themselves. One was a Warlord who used child soldiers. She didn't feel guilt when she killed them she was probably saving innocent people from being killed by them or ravaged by drugs. There is no way she is killing a family man no matter what the reason.
Dressed as a young man wearing the company's overalls with their logo on the pocket and black baseball cap she casually waves to a few men gathered around a huge red shipping container as she left. After leaving the warehouse she stood at the railing out of view on the side of the furthest dock, looking out at the ships slowly moving off into the distance. Pretending to smoke a cigarette as though she was on a break from work, LiMei had the target's phone number saved in her burner phone, she had called him once earlier as a secretary from a real estate company to find out some preliminary information.
Thinking about his wife she sends the target a text 'Disappear if you want to live, don't contact family, don't even tell your pregnant wife. Leave Bashu City until after the 30th' {She has no idea who wants him dead, these rich guys it could be their own father. The wife could let something slip.} Screw you Kuang Fu, they look happy! She tosses the burner phone into the water .LiMei takes out another cellphone dials the Old Man who owes her a favor, “I need to go now.” She would no longer be Qin Daiyu.
LiMei takes out what she needs from her backpack with the gun inside then throws it over the railing watching it sink to the bottom, the water rippling around it as it sinks. Strolling away from the area blending in wth the other workers, she catches a bus to the far side of town.
The Old Man had been preparing IDs , documents for her since Qin Daiyu had requested them over six months ago. Her new identity is Feng LiMei. He only needs to finish forging some documents about her education. The Old Man sees his only son laughing watching television with his girlfriend, if it weren't for that girl saving him from drowning... He collects everything together for her placing them in a small leather case.
She needs to hurry, she sent a false verification of the hit to Kuang Fu to buy some time, but he will be checking soon to see if she completed her first solo assignment neatly. He had spread himself too thin and had no one to come as her handler, Kuang Bo was in Cambodia, so he had no choice but to trust her. Kuang Fu assumed she was under his control after years of being obedient. The client wanted the target killed in broad daylight by a sniper's bullet to send a message to the elite families of Bashu City, to put fear in them if they opposed the Zangwa Family.
Her specialty as an assassin is hitting a target from a distance with a bullet from her specially modified sniper rifle killing them instantly, it would happen so quickly by the time any bystanders noticed she was gone from the scene. So he naturally sent her not knowing she only killed the former targets because they were as evil as the Organization.
Without appearing hurried she exits the bus then walks to the Old Man's home in the suburbs. LiMei knocks on the door, “You must be the repairman.” LiMei had torn off the logo on the overalls so she looked like a repairman. A neighbor is watering his bushes next door,The Old Man nods at him smiling.
“Thank you I know this is earlier than expected but I need to leave tonight.”
She uses his bathroom to change she unzips the overalls underneath she is wearing black leggings and a black shirt, keeping the cap on her head. She rips off her face mask revealing a fresh beautiful face of a young girl. Staring in the mirror she says to her reflection, “This is it Daiyu, you either escape or have your skin ripped from your bones by Kuang Fu.”
Exiting the bathroom she sits at the table in his office checking over the documents.
“Let me pay you for your hard work, everything looks authentic, perfect!”
“No, saving my son I will forever be in your debt. I am happy I can help you escape from that bastard Kuang Fu.”
“Have some noodles and fish, it will be dark in an hour then my son can drive you to the docks, there is a ship leaving tonight for Chengdon, once you arrive take a train to Pushong City, I have a friend who will help you get situated, his name is Father Lam of St. John's Orphange.”
Now here she is about to start work at Hushang Group in the Accounting Department. A normal girl, she hugs her pillow, no one can find out about her past..she won't let anyone make her go back to that disgusting life. LiMei closes her eyes.
The private room in the Black Lotus Club is starting to spin, Chen Jianyu is too drunk to drive, He barely can dial one of his bodyguards, slurring his words, “Peng Wei, get over to the Black Lotus Club I need a driver.”
He leans back on the couch slouching over, “I'm going to find that girl!” he mutters as he passes out. His hand is in his pocket clutching the printout of the girl.
Xiaobo starts laughing, “Huan I haven't seen your brother this drunk in a long time! This drugging incident must really bother him. “
Huan lays Jianyu down on the couch, “You know him, no one is colder and more prideful than my older brother”, he smiles “Have you ever seen him pay attention to a woman here? To have a beautiful woman save him and he doesn't know what her game is must be driving him insane. He sounded attracted to her when he was describing her earlier.”
Huan walks back over picking a cigar out of a box, as he lights it he says,“Hey Weisheng, you are staying at the Crescent Moon Hotel aren't you?”
“Yes.”
“You can catch a ride with Jianyu he stays at the penthouse there.”
Weisheng didn't rent a car yet, that is a good idea. “Okay, that is a good idea I have jet lag and I need to get a car in the morning.”
“Why don't the three of us meet at the Police Station in the morning, see what information they can give us about Tingfeng's disappearance. Dong He, a Sergeant there, went to school with Jianyu, he is a smart guy, good cop. Xiaobo, you don't have morning plans do you.?”
“Sleep.”
“Just don't stay up all night with that girl that was hanging on you all night!" All three of them start laughing, Xiaobo let's the girls hang on him for show, he needs to maintain his image, he actually is very shy.
“Huan.. funny.. yeah I can meet you, 8:30 good?”
Peng Wei comes to the door knocks. Xiaobo lets him in points at Chen Jianyu snoring on the couch.
“Is there a back exit? Boss wouldn't like to be seen in public in this condition.”
“Yeah use the back stairs no one will see him.”
“Peng Wei, my friend Han Weisheng is going to the hotel with you he is staying there also.”
Han Weisheng helps Peng Wei pick up Chen Jianyu. “See you two in the morning at the Police Station.”
After they leave Xiaobo and Huan discuss Han Weisheng's brother's disappearance.
“Why do you think anyone would kidnap his brother?” Xiaobo doesn't know much about Weisheng's family, he never really talked about them.
“Well I can only assume it has something to do with the new construction that is going on outside Bashu City, I know the Han Corporation owns a large construction business among their other business interests. It's rumored one of their competitors is backed by a Syndicate. Since they revitalized the City making it geared more towards tourism rather than shipping people have been buying up land to build resorts. You know for years Bashu City has just been a port essential for shipping, a no frills city.
The Crimson Jade Resort was our project we partnered with the Han's but that was a couple years ago before the Zangwa Family moved into the construction business, Ghost Sword Syndicate is run by a branch of the Zangwa's according to my sources, therefore they have a stake in who gets the contracts.
Our resort is luxurious, located by a hot spring toward the base of the mountain. Catering to rich clients has spa treatments bringing status to Bashu City. This Syndicate wants to build quick not well made family style hotels by the beach. This idea is opposed by the elite families there who back the Han Family.”
“No wonder Weisheng wants to take care of it himself, the police are useless when it comes to dealing with the Underworld. If I know Weisheng anyone involved and their entire family won't survive if they harm a hair on his brother's head.”
Huan takes a sip of his gin and tonic, “They messed with the wrong guy.”
Peng Wei and Han Weisheng enter the hotel through the rear taking the service elevator to the penthouse.
“Thanks Mr. Han for helping me with the Boss, seriously I have never seen him this drunk, it must be that woman.”
Han Weisheng is curious he would like to find out more about this woman who knew that maniac Xingi well enough to possess a high priced aphrodisiac antidote he created. But, now isn't the time he needs to find his brother.
“Let's get him inside.”
They get him into the penthouse and place him on his bed, as they do a wrinkled piece of paper falls out of his pocket. Han Weisheng picks it up it is a computer printout of a smiling girl at a cafe counter with a cup of coffee. Chen Jianyu mentioned he didn't see the mystery girl except in his room that night who could this girl be?”
He hands the paper to Peng Wei, who carefully smooths it out putting it on Chen Jianyu's desk. As he does he says under his breath, “Damn bitch fucking with the Boss' head.”
Han Weisheng can hear him from where he is standing he has martial arts training.
“I'm leaving, Peng Wei get some hangover medicine for your Boss.”
